The Moment you Realized Time was Catching You... (Merged)

Let me see. It must have been a couple years ago. After a long day of running around in the woods shooting friends with paintball guns, my ankle, knee and back got so sore I had to sit down to piss. Turns out that I really enjoyed sitting down to piss and continue to do so to this day...

I had been noticing a slight, slow decline over the years, but the fucking wall just fell on me over the last two months. I've been running in this local training group that's preparing for the Honolulu Marathon in December, and we've been training since the first week of August (I'm not actually running the marathon, just trying to improve my running for next year's Tinman triathlon). The first couple weeks were OK (3-4 miles at a slow pace), but once they started cranking up the distance (6-10 miles per session) and starting running up fucking hills (one is a 15% grade for about 300 yards...it's steep as fuck), I started pulling hamstrings (right one first, then the left a few weeks later), pulled a muscle in my back (yep, from fucking running), aggrivated my right achilles, and the bottoms of both feet feel like some gorilla beat on them with a baseball bat for about an hour. Up until joining this group, I never had major problems from any sort of endurance training, but as I type this I feel like I'm fucking 75 years old.

About a month ago after a good 12 hours of landscapping. It was hard work, but nothing compared to what I was use to growing up on the farm (e.g. mounding hay in the loft where it would get up to 120 degrees with no wind for the entire morning), which never seemed to phase me as long as I got a hot shower and a warm meal at the end of the day.

Of course this could be the cause of me being a lazy fatty, but that realization came to me this summer when after three rounds of paintball, I was having trouble breathing, whereas all the other guys were fine.

I really do need one of those! You have time to drink 3 beers before the dog finishes fetching the damn ball -- it's great!

I think it really hit me last December when I moved into My current Apartment. I was worn out and sucking wind after something like 2 trips up the stairs.

I can second that.

I helped buckeyefool move in and his roommates 70 yr old dad who smokes a pipe wasn't breathing as hard as bfool.

What an out of shape bitch.

The worst was the heaviest thing we carried were these trunks full of comic books.

Hopefully his girl riend will eventually get him to pitch those.

Playing with my girlfriend's 5 year old son over this past winter, after sitting on the floor building cars and trucks out of LEGOs, I went to stand up and both knees popped. My knees just make odd noises on occassion now simply walking from point a to point b.
