To late to scratch in Rage Against the Machine and Incubus? Although the latter I'm not sure would fully qualify as "rock n roll"....

Yes. The polls are closed and the tabulations have already been made. SO YOUR VOTE NO LONGER COUNTS!!

RaTM WILL FOREVER BE BARRED FROM RECEIVING THE RECOGNITION THEY DESERVE!!!!!

Seriously dude it's a silly poll on a message board. Pimp whoever you want whenever you want.

Incubus still sucks though.

I approve this message.

Odd, because I love Audioslave. I dunno ... never liked de la Rocha. He sucked all the listenability out of a talented group like Chuck Mosley did with Faith No More before they wised up and kicked his ass to the curb.

Aerosmith, that is American Rock and Roll.

Voted for Van Halen, Aerosmith and Kiss

But CCR should have gotten a vote from me over Kiss. Dead Schembechlers and Wyld Stallyons get an Honorable Mention.

Original Aerosmith tour van found in small Massachusetts town by "American Pickers"

screen-shot-2018-08-08-at-2-42-16-pm.png

Four decades ago, before Aerosmith was selling out stadiums, the band was traveling New England and trying to become a household name. The band members rode in a funky 1964 International Harvester Metro van with a cartoon man and "Aerosmith" painted in bright colors across the side. Decades later, the dated yet iconic van has been found, and the people who located it know a thing or two about nostalgic vehicles.

The hosts of History Channel's "American Pickers" say the van had spent years in the woods of a small Massachusetts town after being abandoned in the 1970s. In an episode of the show that aired July 30, hosts Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz visit Chesterfield, a town about 100 miles west of Boston, to inquire about the van.

The pickers find the dilapidated vehicle with the tires flat, the door missing and the paint rusting off. Still, Wolfe and Fritz, who search the country for valuable pieces of American nostalgia like cars and toys, were willing to pay a pretty penny for the rundown van. Wolfe says it's "a piece of American rock and roll history."

Van Halen won this poll with >20% of the vote. While Van Halen (Roth era, f- that Van Hagar shit), is not in my personal top 3, listening to Van Halen I and 1984 this week I'm reminded that Runnin' With the Devil and Hot for Teacher are two of the greatest radio-ready rock singles ever. Ever. All the hallmarks of what Van Halen did awesome: simple four measure guitar solos, the scat-jazz guitar fills over spoken word bridges, Roth's vocal shenanigans. These are still great songs that hold up 35-40 years later. In fact, I might appreciate these two songs more now than I ever have.

The synths in Jump and Panama? Not so much ...

If you think Roth is better than Hagar....you are so stuck in the mud I can't even begin to get into it. Now I will say this - I like both version of bands, but far and away, Van Hagar is better. I'm willing to bet anyone under the age of 50 is Hagar and anyone over is Roth. Always exceptions but this seems to be what I find. Older folks like Roth, younger folks like Hagar.

For god sakes I just saw Chicago was on there......freakin' Chicago!??!?!!? seriously!?!?!? That's not even CLOSE to rock music and someone actually placed a vote for them. I fear the destruction of the world is upon us.
I like that you took most of two years off, but rock music heresy must not go unpunished ! welcome back.

47, I like the original VH lineup but I also love Sammy Hagar from Montrose up to this very day most likely.

It's not that I dislike Van Hagar, I just like OG Van Halen better.

Chicago is most definitely a rock band, and they are pretty universally considered to be one, even if it was more "prog" early on and too "soft" for most rock tastes later.
