The Greatest American Rock Band (Poll)

The Greatest American Rock Band Ever Is...

It's funny. Looking at the poll, I think that I tend to like British (Dire Straits, the Who, Queen ...) and Canadian (Rush, The Band ...) bands more than American ones.
Agreed.
Pink Floyd FTW.

I cast my vote for Metallica in this poll. Lots of great options. Hard to pick. But not sure how Nirvana is on the list and Alice In Chains isn’t. I may be in the minority but AIC gorilla fucks Nirvana. :)

AIC and Soundgarden trump Cobain and Crew for me. Grohl's done a better job on his own than as a member of Nirvana, in my IMO.
As the years pass and Clutch continues to pump out solid albums, I have to admit that their discography would rival a great many of the more mainstream band. Granted, I've loved them since '92, and I would bet that there's a fair share on this forum that aren't even familiar with them.

Rush is my all time favorite band. If you haven't heard of Polish prog band Riverside, check out Anno Domini High Def on YouTube. Also most certainly check out UK prog band Porcupine Tree. Great band that seems to have more fans in America now than they did while they were together. Might want to start with 'Fear of a Blank Planet' They have a great discography..some would say start at the beginning. First song of theirs I heard was 'Dark Matter', been hooked ever since.

Yeah, 7 years later, I'd change my votes probably. Also, as to Grohl, if the poll was current best American band, and I was trying to be objective (rather than what I like) I'd have to burn one of my 3 votes on foo fighters

It’s not just Foo Fighters. Add in Them Crooked Vultures and Queens of the Stone Age, plus guest turns on dozens of other bands’ studio albums, along with Nirvana’s discography, and Grohl is up there among greatest living American rock musicians today.

His catalog is ridiculous.

QotSA’s No One Knows is a fucking masterpiece.

You'll find no objection here.
