I ended up getting in a quick 18 while in Ohio last week. Me and a couple of buddies played a course near Wilmington, OH: Majestic Springs. Fairly short course, about 6,500 from the tips. I think it is supposed to be a links-style course. The place was in terrible condition. I would not recommend it.

Anyways, the round ended up being a scene out of Caddyshack. It sprinkled a bit and was windy throughout the day, but I was playing good so it didn't really bother me. I got to 16 needing to shoot one over the rest of the way to shoot a 79. All of the sudden the skies opened up and it started pouring rain. The other three guys were ready to call it quits, but I haven't shot in the 70s in a while so I was determined to finish. Finished par, par, par for a 78. I was completely drenched, but it was absolutely worth it.

On another note, I am trying to find a good looking Ohio State headcover. Preferably one with Brutus on it. Has anyone seen one? I have looked online, but haven't seen much that I liked.

We had our opening day event today. Wow, was it miserable. The high was 42 and it rained for the first 9 holes. Then the wind came out. I can't wait to get this round as far from my brain as possible. I actually rifled two balls in a row out of bounds and took an 8 on a 350 yard par 4.

Thank god for cart mitts and ski caps. I wish I had some hand warmers though.

79 on Wednesday. Hit 12 greens...missed every putt, most on the edge. For as poor of a putter as I am, I was actually fairly encouraged. Lipped out several putts. All in all, not bad for mid-April. My goal is to focus on my putting from here on out. Still looking at either a Bettinardi or a Rife Bimini.

Was hitting my drives fairly straight but really felt like I had lost some pop. Been swinging an r7 Draw for years. Just had my father pick me up a Superfast 2.0 stiff shaft down at Martin's this morning. I've hit it on the range and it was time to make the move.

My plan is to sell my r7 driver, r7 3-wood and Cobra Speed 5-wood to put towards a Superfast 4-wood. Then I want to trade-in my Burner Rescue 3-hybrid for a new Superfast 3-hybrid.

That would give me a driver, 4-wood and 3-hybrid to go with my 4-SW. That's 11 clubs. I would like to go back to carrying both of my Cleveland wedges...I have a 48 and a 58 degree. I could even see replacing my SW from my set with a Cleveland 62 degree.

Played today. Another windy day. Stepped up to the tee on a wide-open 380 yard par 4, downwind. Smashed my tee shot 360 yards ( must have hit a sprinkler head or something). Got up and down for birdie and I start an onslaught of [Mark May]-talking to my buddies. The very next hole turned right back around into the wind. The tee shot requires a 230 yard carry over water. I snap off two hooks into the drink and the rest of the hole was just as bad. Took a 10 on a par 5! A good ol' quintuple bogey. That will wreck a decent round.

Shark's Tooth is interesting. Had an Eagle put on the back 9, 14th or 15th hole, that I yanked so badly my buddies still kid me about it to this day. Course is well worth a look. Don't play that much anymore, unfortunately, so I have no current information on any of them.

Have a great time. Looks like you will catch the weather just right.

Thanks for the input, Gator. The weather could not have been better. I got five rounds in, and as far as the courses go, next time I am going to pass on Bay Point and Hombre and play the Troon managed courses only: Shark's Tooth, Camp Creek and the Origins Course.

I would have to say that Camp Creek was actually my favorite, all things considered. I played it twice. Great layout with beautiful scenery. Tediously maintained. Very challenging, but not miserably difficult. The course was almost outdone by the courtesy and professionalism of the staff. The starter, Tee (a nickname I am assuming), was a super nice guy.

Also, for those of you who don't know about it, try www.ezlinks.com. The name your own price option is great and the tee time specials are great too. I played Camp Creek for $48 on a Saturday. You can also use this promo code and get a 25% discount: LAGOLF12. I think the site has much better deals than Golfnow.

Glad you had a great time. I should have noted that Shark's tooth has you going over lots of indigenous flora and water instead of rolling fairways.

Thanks for the tip on ezlinks. I need to get out again more.
