Played nine holes this morning before the heat got too bad. Shot a personal best - 44. I even had a 30-ft. putt for eagle (never had an eagle) on the par-5 ninth hole, but it died on the lip.

I had taken a series of lessons earlier in the spring, and while I was striking the ball better at the range, my game on the course went completely to shit. The last round I played before today was four weeks ago, one week after my final lesson. I shot a 53 then and it was the first round I had ever played where I didn't do at least one thing relatively well. After all of that, I think more than anything I needed to forget about golf and forget about swing changes for a while and come back fresh.

I putted better today than I have all year - turns out all I needed to do was completely ignore all of the advice I got from the professional. :tongue2:

My first ever round of golf was two years ago next month. I had been starting to get disappointed that I was mostly scoring the same as I was when I started. Today's round was definitely encouraging in that regard.

If you've only played for two years and have already shot in the mid-40's, you are definitely ahead of the curve.

Well done my man!

So, team finished one stroke behind the leader. I hate nothing more then losing - but to be that close is just salt in the wound. Shot -3 under collectively.

I didnt have full range of my clubs for some reason. I'm feeling the need for a new set. Had a few nice drives. Sank a nice 16footer for a bird on the 11th.
Couple decent chips with my AW. A mediocre game to say the least. Pushed a few shots right off the toe of my club. My back foot kept sliding (forgot my shoes of course) thus having to slow my backswing down a bit really didn't help my shot tempo.

That said. Hot as all hell. Started at 2:30 got done around 7. I'm surprised as shit I didn't burn to a crisp. Got some nice sun. Slammed about 4 bottles of gatorade and another bottle of water on the 18th. Just miserable golfing weather.

Almost forgot. I think that was literally the first time I've ever said to myself "its too fucking hot to drink liquor"...

Hickory Hills

You must be hitting the ball really good then, that's a lot of GIR's. Hickory is a tough place to putt if your not in the right places on the green.

I have been getting killed on the par 3's for about the last month. Shot 37/39 @ Bent Tree last week 4,4,4,5 on the four par 5's. 4,5,4,5 on the 4 par 3's. ridickuless.

Been playing there for almost 20 years...and it's always been that way. Can't get above the whole. Tee to green I am fine...then it all falls apart. I really think I need a putting lesson. I don't seem to have the physical capability to A) line myself up properly and B) differentiate small amounts like inside right edge, outside right edge, a cup outside, etc.

Made two birdies and still shot 41.
Got you beat. 2 birdies and a 45.

My 18-hole score was 86 with 4 birdies. Tells you a lot about the other holes. Had to buy another dozen after the round.

:shake:

(BTW, I think Hickory is the only good course Jack Kidwell ever designed. But man, did he get that one right.)

Taking the bar exam tomorrow. It has gotten to the point that it feels like every new piece of knowledge that I put in my mind pushes something else out of my mind. No more studying for me. I am hitting the golf course.

Bought an Odyssey Backstryke a couple of months ago. I'm a lefty, but it sets up very nice. It automatically has a 'forward press' built in, so all you have to do is line up and smack it. It's got that triangle sight, but since I don't know how to use that part I just line up the center line to the ball path I've picked out. Anyway, the net of the whole thing is that haven't had a three-jab since I bought it. Had more one putts as well, and when I miss they're a bit closer than they were.....thought I'd share, I change putters more often than most people change underwear. Averaging about 32 putts per round with a 13 handicap.
