There is a really easy solution to all of this nonsense. Just have Ped State and scUM flip divisions. Then we can play scUM at the end of each year as division rivals. I personally don't care if we miss Ped State some years. We only started playing them every year in 1993.

"But they'd have to travel too much!"

Who gives a fuck what they think, especially now?

Which is such a stupid damn argument.

The only real difference in travel is that they would play once in Lincoln every two years.

If you are really bitching about getting to play at one of the top 10 name programs in the country every other year...then you need to STFU.

Fuck. Most of them wanted to be away from Ohio State/tsun and were hoping corn aggy would be their long sought "rival."

I never got that feel from the Penn State mob at all.

Everything I saw indicated that being paired with Nebraska would be yet another in the long line of 'slights' from the Big Ten and that their natural rival should be Ohio State.

Of course their real preference would be to beat up on Temple, Rutgers or (insert east coast pushover of choice here) but outside of that they desperately want Ohio State to care about them.

Oh great... this is what I get for new year's day... :smash:

edit: I got to say right now, putting tOSU and scUM in different divisions was the best decision for the benefit of the conference. Make no mistake about that.

Make no mistake, the end game is to devalue The Game.

If that's the goal, then that ship already sailed the second they created a conference championship game.

Count on this: some year a two/three loss division champ is going to upset an undefeated division champ. The fact that the two may have already played will not deter the wrong team from going to the Rose Bowl or claiming the conference championship.

Ah, but the game will have made money

We all saw this coming when the expansion happened and they split the divisions between US and them. I never understood why there wasn't more public outrage when they split the two. While I believe that the ultimate solution to this is realign the divisions that won't happen.
However, I do understand the we don't want a next week rematch arguement. So why not move the game to week 1. I don't like that idea really but it would at least put the best rivalry in all of sports on a higher stage than anything else that weekend and would allow for the losing team to gain the momentum to make the possible rematch even more meaningful.

It won't happen until two things happen first: Delaney retires and a new commissioner with less power replaces him and Ohio State finds an athletic director who will actually fight for Ohio State's interests within the conference instead of grabbing his ankles and networking everybody and their mother for the next stop on his career train.

This shit would not have happened if Andy Geiger was still running the show at St. John.

They were foolish for putting OSU/TSUN is separate divisions.

I pitched a fit at the time in the face of the "we want to beat them twice" silliness uttered by Gee. If we play in the CCG the regular season match up becomes meaningless.

They tied their hands and have no choice but to move The Game to October. No one outside of Ohio/Mich will want to watch the same game in back-to-back weeks.

I have no interest in watching OSU-Mich in back to back weeks. None.

No. You god damn know that they're going to try to make Ped State our season ending "rivalry" game and do the same with Sparty for Michigan.

That appears to be the case. They think they can elevate Little Brother and create a rival for PoSU without diminishing OSU-Mich. Unfortunately, they diminished OSU-Mich the minute they put us in separate divisions.

Yeah, who cares about ruining the greatest rivaly in all of sports--this helps Indiana and Minnesota. :roll2:
