Ohio State Football: UM player accidentally gives info on injured running back

When asked about Corum, tackle Ryan Hayes said everyone will have to step up with him out, accidentally letting the world know that he probably won’t play in this game.

Could this be some misinformation thrown out? Of course. Everything is on the table when it comes to Ohio State/Michigan. If I’m Day, I’m still planning on seeing Corum suit up and play. He can’t leave any stone unturned in this matchup that will decide the fate of the Big Ten and maybe the College Football Playoff.

Ya think this was an honest slip up or "just bait" to lure Ohio State into thinking that Corum won't play, etc.?

Anyway, I'll bet that Hairbaugh won't be giving any Corum injury updates anytime before THE GAME.

It was an answer to a hypothetical question about what if Corum is out.

Ohio State vs. Michigan 2022: Are the Buckeyes tough enough to stop the Wolverines this year?

Michigan defensive lineman Mazi Smith searches for power while watching film.

He takes note of the opposing offensive lineman who can move bodies and create holes. But he can’t know how he stacks up until he sees them in person.

“It’s actually pretty hard to get a good beat on who somebody is through tape,” Smith said Monday. “You’ve got to go out there, play the first three downs. You could get a 3-and-out or let them get a first (down). See where it goes, see what it turns into from there.”
.
.
.
“We weren’t able to stop (the run), and that’s very disappointing, especially when you know they’re gonna do it,” Day said afterward.
OSU hired Knowles to prepare its front seven for this challenge. The numbers (and film) suggest his teachings have made a difference.
.
.
.
But like Smith, the Buckeyes won’t know how prepared they are until they start crashing helmets.

“It just takes about two or three plays,” Smith said. “If I put my hands on somebody and they’re going backwards, we’ll be all right.”

"It's definitely worth a conversation," Day said. "When you put it on film, and the film speaks for itself, you have to have that conversation – in this moment – who is the best guy to put on the field."
.
.
.
Later in Tuesday's press conference, Day claimed the plan is for Henderson and Williams to practice this week and said he would prefer they work directly with their teammates in the days leading up to the Michigan game instead of taking mental reps. Still, Day said Henderson and Williams' availability for Saturday won't necessarily be contingent on how much they practice.

“We’d like for them to practice and plan on them practicing,” Day said. “If they miss here or there to get healthy to play in the game, we’ll adjust accordingly. These are veteran football players.”

When asked if Hayden was "starter caliber," Day said it is "hard to say" at this moment, recognizing that Michigan is a more challenging opponent than any Ohio State has faced to this point in the season.

My feeling that Corum really is hurt. However he will probably play and not be 100%.

They may catch OSU off guard with stuff not seen on film because of Corums limited use.

So they should be prepared for 100% Corum, and also prepared to make adjustments with any changes that happen because they are doing things differently.
Everybody’s hurt this time of year. Not many players are at 100%. That probably gives OSU at least one advantage with Hayden playing because he hasn’t seen enough action to get banged up yet. He’s still fresh. He just has to keep protecting the ball. He’s been really good at that so far. This would be a bad time for a freshman mistake.

If Corum’s injury was that serious, I doubt he would’ve been out walking around without crutches delivering turkeys on Sunday. He was limping but he’s got a week to recover. I expect he’ll play. I don’t expect him to be at 100%. But if either TreVeyon or Miyan can play, they won’t be at 100% either. Even with a healthy Corum, Michigan still had trouble scoring TDs in the red zone against Illinois and Michigan State. That gives me confidence. I think it was also good that Maryland ran some screens against our D since Michigan has had success running them against us in the past. I expect a decent serving of those on Saturday.

Strangely enough. I think the coaching staff has a grasp now on what works and what doesn’t running game wise. I think last week kind of finalized who is the guy to see that plan carried out. For some strange reason, I have been back and forth in my head and watching recent games. I can totally see bucks inside zone Michigan to death late in the game with occasional outside stretch (with the right guy).

Not sure I concur about their grasp... center & RG only have one healthy foot plus Dewand is banged up.. and every opponent knows it... so defense will force runs to the right where no one is healthy and crash LBs/safety

Neither Corum nor Henderson should see the field...
I'm guessing walking on a sidewalk to deliver a turkey is less risky than taking a shot from Eichenburg after a disasterous attempt of a jump cut
So it's our #4 vs their #3...
I wouldn't be surprised to see Mayan play... and despite not being 100%.. play well

Sooooo.. game is won/lost in the trenches?
