This will be another game where half the team doesn't play, and this time we are going to look terrible.
Some of us in a room alone with him.. might make him get it.Day doesn’t get it and he’s clearly not going to get it. If last year didn’t do it, this year isn’t going to. Cut bait before we go through this shit a third time and make it very clear that taking this game lightly is not and will never be acceptable.
I think he get's it. The issue is that he somehow thinks he can both HC and be a OC.Day doesn’t get it and he’s clearly not going to get it. If last year didn’t do it, this year isn’t going to. Just stop.About $56 million left on Ryan Day's contract for the buyout paid over two years, since he's signed through 2028.
I'd question if OSU would buy him out even if he lost next season since it would be over $40 million and the playoffs could theoretically expand to 12 schools for 2024 season.
You can. Pete Carroll did at USC but you need enough hard ass players that everyone trusts to make it workI think he get's it. The issue is that he somehow thinks he can both HC and be a OC.
I think some of the issue is he also just doesn't have that killer instinct. He is trying to be everybody's friend, and there just isn't a fire there.
You have to be a hard ass to win in CFB. You can get away somewhat in the NFL by trusting players to just being able to find their own intensity.
That doesn't work in CFB. You have to be a hard ass. You just do.
You never see him get fired up or get into his team when the level of play isn't there.
He is way way too nice.

Totally agreed and to an extent it's sort of the same with Stroud too.I think he get's it. The issue is that he somehow thinks he can both HC and be a OC.

That’s the annoying part too. The dog, the fight. It takes every ounce of will to win this game. Now that I'm slightly more sober: I..don't even know what to say really.
My general thoughts leans towards Day probably not being the guy though. Like my uninformed dumbass fan hot take is that the actual gameplan was pretty good and what fans were clamoring for all year.
At half time OSU outrushed SCUM something like 120 to 10 yards. Fucking 10. And outgained SCUM in total yards by 100 yards. All of us wanted Knowles to load the box and make JJ beat us with his arm since they hadn't done it all year. I'm not sure if any halftime adjustments were made because I had too much Vodka in me to notice, but I would've stuck to the gameplan in the second half in all honestly. Hell JJ finished with a 50% completion rate.
To be honest it just felt like guys weren't making plays. WAY too many crucial dropped passes. Too many coverage busts on defense. Too many crucial mental errors in general. That's kind of where my "Day may not be the guy" assessment comes in. Like we all had problems with Urban's schemes in the past, but when it came to brass tacks and big games, the players always gave extra effort. For all of the faults Urban's teams had in general, when it came to The Game, they would always make the plays they needed to. I remember in the 2018 game McLauren catching a crossing route 3 or 4 yards away from the first down marker, only to keep his legs going until he had the first down. I feel like those are plays that we were missing.
So yeah it just feels like that extra "spark" was missing. X and O's were fine imo. BUT it also made me appreciate why Urban and Tressel called games the way they did when it comes to brass tacks. Outscheming your opponent sometimes isn't enough. Players gotta make plays when shit gets real.
I think Carroll had a few decent years, but eventually it was apparent he was just a NFL coach, where he ultimately succeeded. You can. Pete Carroll did at USC but you need enough hard ass players that everyone trusts to make it work
