THE GAME: ttun @ tOSU, Sat Nov 26, 12pm, FOX

Seems like Day has an identity crisis on offense and couldn’t decide whether to be a passing team or a rushing team, especially in short yardage. Or he refused to fully accept they may be a rushing team today. Result was a random-play-generator type of gameplan. No continuity or plan for what they wanted to accomplish.

I noticed this too. He seem to decide to run the ball primarily on one possession then went to the pass on the next possession. I think the lack of having a balanced offense for so long has clouded how he should playcall to help set up the pass with the run and vise versa.

I think Day needs a OC with a strong desire to install alot of run concepts. He needs someone to challenge him to balance out the offense. Day is so pass heavy, the OC needs to counter that with wanting to be run heavy. I don't think Day has to completely give up playcalling but it might be best for the OC to playcall with Day being able to override. Another option is to have Day call passing plays while the new OC gets running plays.

It was a disorganized gaggle fuck is what it was. Under Tressel & Meyer, there was always an identifiable game plan. This is 2 consecutive years I had no idea what exactly we were trying to do.

crossing routes are great. Guys can easily pick where to sit down. But I am not disagreeing that slants would have work as well. Running game was pretty solid most of the game. Except when you run wide on 4th down...

So tell me - where have you seen anyone on this team sit down in a spot in a zone?

It's fine to say it's there when you see it, but it's not in the offense, and it doesnt' appear to be, saying it would "work great" doesn't help.

One guy calling passes and another calling runs won’t work. How do you know which plays and when to call for example? You need a true OC To run the offense and call the plays, and let Day be the CEO and occasionally override. He needs someone to balance his predicable WR screens, much like Meyer needed an OC to balance his constant QB runs. But Meyer was stubborn, hopefully Day isn’t the same and can hand over the reigns. But there’s zero excuse for why this team can’t run the ball with OL and RB talent

Notre Dame played zone it a lot. And we struggled of course. But a few plays guys did sit down. I agree it did look like the communication between Stroud and the receiver looked off when they did it. Obviously not something they practice a lot. Which is bullshit IMO.

When is the last time we ran a lot of slants? I guess because CJ has a stong arm Day just thinks the sideline are the only part of the field you should attack. Its wild.

Yeah and how did Ohio State win the Ntre Ame game?

Honestly horrible QB play for the Irish. Only put up 24 in that game too. I know Myian had a few runs at the end. Difference is we needed to put up 50 to get this win.

I am not arguing with you. I do wonder where the slant and crossing route game is. I am honestly trying to think of the last time we ran slants for a 1st down.

I really would like to know how many times Dallan Hayden fumbles in practice.

Chip did his best, but Hayden must fumble every carry in practice to not even sniff the field.

That being said, the entire offense (every facet of it) was a clusterf*ck.

So Hayden was sat for fumbling in practice? I'm more interested in games, like the one he had last week and didn't fumble.

Chip did his best, but he's not the threat of Hayden. With no CHOP or Henderson, we needed more than Chip.
