I don't think Day wants his QBs to move. We rarely ever saw that from Stroud until the Georgia game, when they pulled all the stops.

He's an NFL offense kind of guy - you throw from the pocket. I think that brings some limitations to the college game, where most QBs aren't as polished in the pocket as pro guys. A QB who can run presents another set of challenges, as we saw with McCarthy.

Fickell has done nothing to suggest he'd be an upgrade over Day...and Day has exactly one more win over SCUM than Fickell does.

Fickle went 6 - 7 without having all of his best talent until the final game at Ann Arbor. To his credit he kept the team together developed JT, give the guy some credit.

We can debate forever on what caused the Fickell year to be what it was. In 2010 I think Darell Hazel was calling the plays even though Jim Bollman was the OC. He leaves after that season leaving the play calling duties to Jim Tressel/Jim Bollman. The suspension of Tressel was going to be like the suspensions of Harbaugh where Tressel would be able to coach during the practices and give Luke guidance through the year. That didn't happen and Luke was by himself with Jim Bollman as his OC. It was an outstanding feat that they won 6 games.

If Ryan Day ends up with a Kirby Smart trajectory, then, yes, my opinion of him will vastly improve. For that to happen, it will likely mean that he's shown professional growth and a willingness to improve things about his coaching that are currently holding him back (playcalling, etc.). I think what most people are frustrated about right now, is that we're not seeing any of that kind of evolution. He is who we think he is. Last minute of the Peach Bowl -> last minute of the 1st half. Same, same.

Or, we could be looking back at today and shake our heads at a bizarre run of incredibly bad luck over many high profile games.

Football is a very evaluation friendly sport.

YES! Oh my god yes! 1000x yes. Losing to Notre Dame wouldn't have meant anything. A win yesterday would have meant a win in The Game (hello! isn't that kind of important in this establishment??) and all that goes with it, winning the B1G east, a spot in the CCG and a very likely playoff berth. Because of this loss, Ohio State is going to play in one to two fewer games as well. If revenue for the athletic department is an important part of Day's job description, there has to be some loss here.

But yeah, even though they're the same people, my opinion of both Day and McCord would be much higher if the end game situations were reversed. Because it was The Game, and because the stakes were SO much higher. Champions play their best when the stakes are the highest.

Yeah and we could have easily 9-3 this year.

Also Oregon next year is unknown. Bo Nix ain't walking back through those doors much like Stroud wasn't for us this year

I accidently quted the wrong post. Sorry. However the "Draft" notice of allegations they received for the recruiting violations is just that....It's not the official one. The NCAA said they were going to continue that investigation after this season so yes, that one is still ongoing.

After 2 straight years of seeing Fields severely limited after injuries, I can't blame him.

I do think he sees the advantage of a mobile QB, though, and we've seen that in every QB recruit since Brown. LK/Noland aren't JT, but much more mobile than McCord and Brown.

Yeah I think he just wants to save it till it's done or die see CJ vs Georgia cause he's worried about him getting hurt after Fields but it could be argued he should have unleashed it against TCUN rather then wait till Georgia

Still had vastly more talent than the rest of the B1G. And I was just replying to the folks that said any idiot can win 10 games with the resources and roster that OSU has. Clearly that isn't the case.
