Game Thread THE GAME: Ohio State 42, Michigan 7 (Nov. 22)

This game is always the most important game of the year. Playing just to win The Game, is all it's about. But with Penn State losing, this game could be for a 4th Big Ten Championship in a row if we take care of Illinois.

14 days. Let's beat Illinois...and then take it to the weasels!

OSU was pretty bad in 04. I don't remember them relegating that to ESPN Plus.

Michigan-Minnesota was on ESPN today. Minnesota was unranked, and coming off of a loss to Northwestern! Let's put away the crazy pills.

I was thinking that we could still win the outright Big10 title for the unprecedented 3rd straight outright Big10 titles if we win out, but then I saw PSU's next opponent. Indiana. Crap.

Go Buckeyes!!!

Fuck scUM.

All Michigan fans keep trying to say that beating us will salvage their season. They beat a Minnesoata team that has a few key players out and they think they are NC calibre.

OSU seniors will have this team ready. We control our own destiny. A few goals preseason are now gone but that happens. We have ALOT to play for. These seniors will not have lost to Michigan...heck how many players on our roster know that feeling...0.

Watching the Minnesoata game Michigan has not improved one bit. IMO RR's offense does look better in a dome on turf. Outside in freezing weather with 30 MPH winds...not so much.

GoBlowWolverine Board (Scout), Rivals, Many Michigan blogs, ESPN Michigan..etc...etc...

I'd be worried about Northwestern.
Yes, the Scout board and ESPN comments would certainly be the place for intelligent discussion.

Blogs are a possibility. Why don't you find us a couple that say Michigan is a national championship caliber team?

Your sig made me think about how bad Mike Hart was against us. Actually he did alright against us in 2006. But 04, 05, 07...by far his worst games of those seasons. Maybe his 3 worst games of his college career. You take away the OSU/Michigan games, and Hart was a pretty damn good tailback. But man, way to flop against Ohio State.

Tressel has a chance to go 7-1. At first I was like...no that can't be right. But it is. 7-1. That would be AMAZING. I know that Michigan sucks this year (but when don't they). But really, they are down, they aren't that good...and the line on this game is going to be double digits for the first time since I can remember. This might be the most Ohio State has been favored against Michigan ever...maybe not, but I have no idea when we would have been bigger favorites. None of that means we are going to win. I don't doubt Michigan brings their A game. And we could probably win without our A game, but in any rivalry game, not brining your A game usually means a loss...and this isn't a normal rivalry game. You never know what is going to happen.

So when you think about this game, throw away Michigan's record...and think about the fact that we could beat Michigan for the 5th time in a row, marking the first time we've done that. And Tressel could increase his record to 7-1 against Michgian. Michigan had no problem kicking us when we were down. We better enjoy it while we can, and kick the crap out of them. They aren't going to be down forever...just until they find a new head coach :slappy:

GO BUCKS!!! 11 Days Until The Game!!!!

In 1969, tOSU had a 22-game winning streak and winning The Game would have clinched back-to-back National Championships, due to the No-repeat Rose Bowl rule. The Buckeyes were 17-point favorites in that game, which is probably the highest point spread ever in tOSU's favor.

A rookie coach led TSUN to a 24-12 upset. And the only rookie coach for TSUN to ever lose his first tOSU game was Harry Kipke, in 1929.

  1. That game was at Ann Arbor
  2. Michigan actually a very good team that year
  3. Michigan's "rookie" coach turned out to be a Hall-of-Fame caliber coach
  4. Michigan's "rookie" coach understood the magnitude of The Game

None of the above four points apply this year...

Point predictor from sagrin would have us as a 19 point home favorite over Michigan. I don't know if it will be that much though. I think what happens this weekend, as far as not just who wins what game, but the scores will have a lot to do with it as well. Big thing about lines though, is it isn't what oddsmakers think the winning margin will be, but it is where the line needs to be for half the bets to be on Michigan and half the bets to be on Ohio State. I'm not sure where that line would be, but I think it might be less than 19, just because it's Ohio State and Michigan. I can't wait for this game!!! Shame on Michigan for only being 3-7. That's unacceptable.
