i wish the big ten would decide what is going to happen after that scrum....i think it will be a ruling after the UM game b/c of osu getting their stuff in by thursday.....man if they start sitting guys for saturday that we need... for that then i am going to be pissed

Anyway, whatever happens, it isn't on the Big Ten. It was on the players when they made their decisions.

I said when the season started that I would be happy with a 10-2 record, going into the bowl games. No returning offense from 2006, and a defense that was SUPPOSED to be good, but had given up 39 and 41 points in the previous 2 games, combined with the fact that Penn State and Wisconsin were each supposed to be good, and Michigan was supposed to challenge for a national championship. I was thinking that 1 win of those three would be pretty good.

But now, I don't think I'd be happy with a 10-2 record. Michigan has shown average ability, at best, when playing good teams. (Even if you throw out Oregon and App St.) Ohio State needs this win. It's the "make-or-break" game of the season. A win, and it's a Tressel-esque season. A loss, and, I know it's a dirty word, but it'll remind me of Cooper.

So, only one TFL proves Long did well against Gholston? The YouTube that OregonBuckeye posted showed Gholston not getting a tackle or even a QB hurry, yet he clearly disrupted the play by manhadling not only Long but Hart also in causing Henne to get the throw off earlier than he wanted. Gholston got nothing in the stats but clearlu was a dominant force on that play...and that wasn't the only one. You think Long called him the best DE he had faced just to be polite?

I didn't say Gholston wasn't a dominant force. You just make it sound as if Long was some fucking turnstile, which he clearly wasn't.

x2 for Michigan. Hell, x10. Sorry, but there's no way to spin it where the game this year is as meaningful for OSU as for Michigan. A senior class that's never beaten OSU....a coach who can rescue a legacy with a win in maybe his last...and a season that can either be defined as a total failure or a complete success just on the outcome of one game. Plus it's at the Big House. I realize that losing to Michigan never puts a smile on the face of OSU fans, but there would be a silver lining or two - not the least of which is, if the worst you can say is that it would "remind" you of Cooper (even though Tressel would be 5-2 against Michigan) then maybe that's not the worst thing in the world, you know? No way to put a silver lining on a Michigan loss.

Thats all stuff for the fans and media. Not losing its last two games and getting a one last shot at The Cyclist is just as big a deal to OSU players as not going out 0-4 is to tsuns players. Thats what makes The Game so special, its life or death to both sides any time.

Ahhhh, I can see that you still don't quite understand. The reason why it is more important to us is because it is sooooooooooooooooo important to TSUN, and therefore the loss would be even more devasting than usual. Get it now? :tongue2:

I have not decided how worried I am about Michigan. Yes there is always some worry because they are a good football team but I think they would have been more trouble had they been coming in with both teams undefeated in the Big Ten. After their start it was the only thing they had left. It may be worse now because while they still have a chance at an outright Big Ten (thanks to us) they seem even more like a wounded dog.

This season has to be a complete and utter disappointment to Hart, Henne, Long and all the others. Even with two losses we can still say this season was a suprise. With 4 loses Michigan will be flatlined.

Our guys are going to have to put some extra fuel in the tank I fear for this game because Michigan will be ready. Of course their balloon could be completely deflated by now and we will roll them big time.

I agree - but that's me. (No, I'm not media.) It's big for Michigan for those reasons, but it's big for me for those same reasons. I grew up with Cooper (the first season I really started watching the games carefully was 1986). For a while all my memories were 1987 win over Michigan and a 1992 tie. And then there was 1994 and 1998. That was it for 15 years. Sure, the past 6 have been great, and I'm not trying to sound greedy. But I want to see Michigan go through a similar 15 year span. Except I don't want Ohio State to lose 3 of those 15. I want them to be 14-1 in those 15 years. For a senior class to want to beat Ohio State once in their four years - how about an Ohio State team that wants to keep that senior class from beating Ohio State?

As for a coach and his legacy, again, Ohio State is trying to keep Lloyd's legacy as being Michigan's Cooper. Ohio State has a legacy of their own to maintain: Tressel's.

And your third point is true every season for both teams.

I'm not saying it's bigger for Ohio State or for Michigan. It's always big for both teams. I don't care if both teams are 0-11 going in, it's a big game. And an 11-0 team better be prepared against an 0-11 team, because you can throw the statistics out the window when it's gametime. It's that way every year. I guess my point is that, like many of you, I'm at work and I want it to be gametime now. And it's a long time until next season, so this game better not piss me off.
