Game Thread THE GAME: #1 Ohio State 42, #2 Michigan 39 (11/18/06)

UM-OSU most-watched regular season game since '93

Top-ranked Ohio State's victory over No. 2 Michigan drew the biggest television audience for any regular-season game in 13 years.

ABC's broadcast pulled in a 13.4 rating, which translates to 14.96 million households and 21.77 million viewers. That's the biggest audience and rating for a regular-season college football network telecast since Florida State at Notre Dame on Nov. 13, 1993.

The figures for Saturday's game are according to Nielsen Media Research.

This was the second time this season ABC has televised a No. 1 vs. No. 2 matchup. On Sept. 9, Ohio State beat second-ranked Texas. That game averaged an 8.2 rating, and was seen in 9.1 million households.

By comparison, the 2006 Fiesta Bowl vs. ND drew a 12.9 rating.

As a result of The Game TSUN is no longer #1 nationally in rush defense.

They are now #2 behind Texas. Their average given up has risen to 43 ypg. That's close to a 50% jump kids. :)

NCAA
that number should be just a bit higher... i have yet to figure out where the two 'team' rushes for -20 yards came from... no one took a knee...

edit: i think i have it. the yards lost on the fumbles... weak.

i was kinda upset with the post game interview with mike hart. the things he was saying like our defense wasnt as good as said, and that he GAURANTEED a different outcome if we played again. i would have liked to have been at that interview so i could yell to his punk ass that the game shouldnt even have been that close. we gave them 3 turnovers and that only got 10 points out of it! not only that, but we passes with ease and ran easily all over the "#1" rush defense. ya, i was a little pissed off about those comments!

Michigan's offense isn't gonna be much better than they are this year. On the other hand, their defense is going to be horrible. Gone are Branch, Biggs, Woodley, Burgess, Harris, and Hall. That's pretty much all their good players. They had their shot this year and they did not capitalize. It's going to be interesting to see how Carr holds down the fort with this group of defensive players that he has recruited.

well, GBW is getting pretty amusing. Mfans are now saying that Ohio State is scared of a rematch, and that they will gladly let Tressel have wins in The Game in exchange for Championships...

(i thought TSUN was supposed to be for smart people.)

You'd think that losing 5 of the last 6 would shut those clowns up.

ScUM fans are very worried about next years secondary! :tongue2:
And Woodly is gone.
And Branch may go early!
Yikes! Can you say bombs away!
As they should. They've failed to recruit or develop many great DB's in the last 3-4 years. Leon Hall was smoked repeatedly yesterday, and he's their best DB by far. Trent looked lost, Sears is average. Mundy and Barringer are gone too (I think). Trent, Sears, Adams, and Harrison isn't going to strike fear in many offensive coordinators.

I just know that it is 28 hours later and I've come down to cloud 10 at this point. This is the sweetest nector of victory ever tasted. There is so little that could happen that could kill this buzz. Bring on the SCum whinners and Mike Hart and LLLLLoyd and whatever else ya got.

After the NC, we could be talking about one of the greatest teams of ALL TIME here!

why don't they think about the 3 turnovers OSU gave them to keep in the game. If those 2 datish/snapping didn't happen.
THE SCORE WOULD HAVE BEEN REALLY BAD FOR THOSE CLOWNS. REMATCH what being like OSU. :osu: :osu: :osu: :osu: Tressels 2nd title in D. 1
