James Buchanan
Proponent of Southern Appeasement
Calvin Coolidge;1662098; said:The deal the Hayes-backers made was with members of your own party, who sold you down the river in exchange for ending the Reconstruction. That speaks volumes about how your party truly felt about you, not to mention Blacks.
Calvin, please: African American is the appropriate nomenclature. You could learn a lot from me in terms of racial sensitivity. I mean, I seem to recall that once, in response to a letter you received proclaiming the United States to be a "white man's country," you callously stated:
I was amazed to receive such a letter. During the war 500,000 colored men and boys were called up under the draft, not one of whom sought to evade it. [As president, I am] one who feels a responsibility for living up to the traditions and maintaining the principles of the Republican Party. Our Constitution guarantees equal rights to all our citizens, without discrimination on account of race or color. I have taken my oath to support that Constitution
"Colored men and boys," Cooledge? Why don't you just ask them for a shoe shine like that epic beard guy, you racist [censored].
