This is my newly adopted Golden Retriever and German Shepherd mix, Tanner. He somehow managed to spend the last 2.5 years in the shelter.

Good luck getting him to leave your side. Our rescue Rottweiler is the most affectionate dog I have had in my life. She always has to be nearby.

I'm already noticing that. Last night on the car ride home he had to sit on my lap the whole time (I wasn't driving). Hopefully my brothers dog warms up to him a little more today. She was a little nippy towards him when he got too close.

Ha, I wondered if that was a common thing with rescues. We got a german shepherd/collie rescue a few months ago and I've nicknamed her 'Shadow' because she always has to follow me....into the bathroom, into any room, etc. She'll constantly paw me for attention too....my wife she doesn't do this with, just me.

So, we're fostering. Long story short, pulled from a puppy mill. Malnoursished but likely not abused. The rescue group recued five mastiffs on that run. Two Neos, a senior female English who was preggers... and our Dogue De Bordeaux.

He's doing great so far. When we picked him up they said that he needed to put on 30 lbs to be at a healthy weight. He's put on probably five in the last week and a half. He's doing it slowly because we're going out for a couple miles of walking every day... so it's good weight. He's also on some pretty high-test puppy food. They estimate that he's between 2.5 and 3 years old. He's the sweetest dog I've ever been around and I'm hoping that he becomes a foster failure and the wife (who actually was the one who pulled the trigger for the fostering) will let us keep him.

He started off very mellow. He's still really mellow but with some weight I think that he's getting the energy to start playing. Sadly, I don't think that he ever knew what playing was because he had no socilization with humans. Either way, for not being socialized, he wants nothing more than to be petted... and even underweight at the 90 lbs when we picked him up, that's a damn big lap dog.

Obvioius dog name is obvious: Hooch

He's a pretty massive boy... considering that even with the ribs showing like that he's just under a buck.

... And just like that (snaps fingers) he's become a foster failure. Signed papers to keep him on Saturday. He's gaining weight and farting something terrible. But he's a total keeper.

I did find out about the fifth mastiff they rescued. It's a 14 month old 140 LB Spanish mastiff bitch who was also fairly malnourished. When she's done growing and fills out she'll be in the 170+ category. Likely 180+. Beautiful dog.

Anyhow, I'm a dog owner again. Couldn't be happier.

I know this is late, but nice dog. Also, the Dogue de Bordeaux- now THAT is a real dog.

Your monthly food bill must be large, but you've got a lot of great friendship and dependability.
