The Buckeyes' Top Prospects for 2010 - Early Edition

I'd like to get two RB's. Any combination of Hall, Howard, Ware, Brown, or Smith would be sweet!
I heard from someone that Latwan was coming down sometime before the spring game. If we offer him, I think we have as good of a chance as anyone. If not, I tend to think he ends up in Canichigan.

I'm kinda hoping that we get 3 Hall , Howard , and Ware and i would be happy. Go Buckeyes !!!

3 is too much. We would have 8 RB's on scholarship in '10.

Agreed. I don't get the logic in people stating that they want 2, let alone 3 RB's in this class. Have people already forgotten that OSU just took 3 RB's in the '09 class? Barring any transfers there will be 5 RB's returning in 2010 with 3 of them being either a sophomore or redshirt freshman. Even if someone would transfer, I still think you need only 1 RB in this class.

If one is all we take, I think Rod Smith takes it. Seems most likely to get an offer before Howard and the most interested.
I have no idea where Ware is interested in, and I have a feeling Corey Brown is going to wait around until the very end. Howard and Smith seem like the two guys that want to be here the most, could be a case of which one gets offered first.

We actually prepared a profile for Rod Smith, but removed it because it seemed likely that he would be an academic casualty. Anyway, here is the info on Smith, which was deleted from the article prior to posting:

Roderick Smith, Fort Wayne Harding (6' 3", 215 lbs, 4.5 forty); Ohio State (not offered) leads. In three years of high school ball, Smith has rushed for over 4,500 yards, so clearly he has talent to go along with his size and speed. While Roderick has taken care of business on the field, he has been rather lax in the classroom, and right now it appears that he will have difficulty qualifying. Ohio State is Smith's leader, but don't expect the Buckeye staff to become interested until he can make his grades.

I don't see a problem with taking two...

Some put Jordan Hall in the RB class but he is not really a running back...

But with the talent that we are after there is no reason to pass on some of them if they want to come...

Not really sure how I would rank them, haven't seen any film on Smith...Howard is a guy that still needs to make grades...

But I really like Corey Brown, but he could be a WR and I would Ware at the top of the RB list, but chances of landing him are not really high, and it could play out for a while...

But if we could land two of Ware, Brown, Howard, Smith there is no reason to say we have too many RB's and only take one...

My honest opinion is that we should sell out on Ware and Brown...take both if we can get them. If not, we may be looking at one RB unless Howard gets his grades up. With a class of 18, I think we take one unless we can get 2 studs (Ware and Brown, maybe Howard).

On Smith...UK and UC are out in front, UK primarily, but OSU would get an instant commit if they offered today. However, the longer we wait the harder it's going to get. I know we are taking a TE in this class, so I can't be more confused about not offering Smith. But on Bryant I agree, unimpressive junior film, scUM can have him. I would much rather see an offer go out to Gholston (maybe a moot point now?) or possibly Wilkins, if we are going to go after another DE.

I'm a little bummed there isn't more mutual interest with Alex Smith and Derrick Bryant so far. The coaches don't seem to be hitting Ohio as hard as I thought they would thus far either.

Thanks for the recruiting summary, BPRT.
With the somewhat low number of schollies available this year (like 18 I think) I can imagine the staff being a little more cautious than they were last year with whom they offer. The Buckeyes missed out on some other top talent due to how fast the class filled up and the last-minute signing day decommitment.

I think if he doesn't get an offer MSU gets Anderson.

But we will see, a long ways to go.
