The Big Ten Needs to Get Their Act Together

Point taken, but I would point out that most of their recruits come from that 3rd world ebola-infested region.
I mean going from Georgia to 'Bama or such isn't a stretch.

And I will say that for a young male's mind... there's a lot more eye candy down there than you'll find in the Midwest, if that piques their interest.

Johnny foosball: "I dunno coach, Nebraska is awful far away and cold and boring"
Coach x:"I understand young man but sometimes you have to look a little deeper, like say under this table we are sitting at..."
Johnny Foosball finds bag-o-cash under table: "Nebraska huh?"

I'm just sayin.

Well, to be fair...other than you guys, who else has a campus draw? I mean, there's what, 7-8 million people in the Columbus area alone, right?
Ever been to Lincoln? Only thing good in Lincoln on a non gameday is the way out of Lincoln.

There's nothing to do in Nebraska, period. I live in a state where everything is closed by 9 or 10, and nothing stays open 24 hours, other than Burger King, Walmart, McDonalds and Walgreens.

How do you sell a recruit on coming to a place like that?

EDIT: Hence Fitz up at NW getting grief. Because he was right, LOL

by winning.

Osborne used to pull a lot of SoCal kids iirc.

Personally I think the location stuff is a total cop out.

Tallahassee, Gainseville, Tuscaloosa, Auburn, Arkansas.....these are god forsaken [Mark May] holes 3rd world refugees would turn down asylum in. I'm surprised we haven't had a fucking Ebola outbreak in any of them yet.

It comes down to hiring the right guy and you are only going to get the right guy if the school (and lets be honest, its boosters) are going to provide the resources necessary to win.

Will to put an emphasis on football begets resources, Resource commitment begets coaching talent, coaching talent begets playing talent, playing talent begets winning. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Geographic location means dick.
Don't forget the Mithithippi schools.

Haven't the Big Ten ADs agreed not to schedule anymore FCS opponents going forward? They've made a concerted effort to boost schedules because the playoff will require it.
I can already see the improvement coming, but it isn't going to be long before the presidents of the MAC schools and the FCS schools in the south run to their state legislators demanding their big pay day at Big Brother's place. Look at the way Baylor forced their way into the Longhorn Conference and they're not even a state school.

1. Push to have states in the region have high school spring football practices.

You're obviously not a track coach... speaking of which, I saw plenty of position practice going on during track season during my 20 years of coaching in the GCL.

Yeah, maybe that's the way to go if the goal of the schools is to have the best football programs, but to do that means taking in more kids who have no business, or little interest, in education. I see too much of that already.

I wondered why they shot that film in black and white.
