The Big Ten Is Irrelevant - Again

B1G over .500 in bowl games. Sparty, Iowa and NW dropped the ball big time. Didn't expect them all to win but at least could have made it more respectable. Now we will hear how the Vols are going to be a top 10 team and Bama will be favorites to 3 peat again next year and year after. Oh and Arkansas plays today I'm sure we will hear about that hype train all offseason.

I think the big ten finished 2nd in conference ranking. Sec at 8-2 are the kings again. Can't argue.

Big ten finished 5-5 overall with 1 non p5 team and our two 5-7 teams wining. Plus sent 3 teams to NY6 bowls causing everyone else to "step up a game" giving us a slight disadvantage. 1-3 in NY6 games looks pretty bad with basically 3 blow outs.

The PAC finishes 6-4 overall but only 2-4 against power 5 teams. And the non power 5 teams weren't like the ACC gaing against ranked Houston and navy, but we're all piss poor group of 5 teams. Going 1-2 against big ten and only sending one team to NY6 bowl gave them a slight advantage in match ups. For that I think the big ten showed better.

ACC is currently 4-6 with a chance to go 5-6 and a national title. If clemson pulls it out I think that gives them a boost over the PAC and the b1g to the no 2 spot. If they lose then I think it might drop the ACC to the worst P5. Yes I am including ND. You know they would had the domers win, they don't get to cherry pick and have to eat the domers failure. Also sent 3 teams to NY6 games.

Big 12 is a joke going 3-4 and looking like complete shit and losing both NY6 games by a lot.

B12 is completely and utterly fucked this year

No meat on the bone (as the talking heads have taken to saying) for their conference champ to work their way up the polls.

Baylor at #15 (3-0) is all smoke and mirrors
TCU is 21st (2-1)
Texas 24th (2-1)

That's it.

And even UT at #24 is still HAHA funny.
Expect OU to climb back up though now that their OOC schedule is over and just conference opponents left.
They've got a week off to lick their wounds before going to TCU and Red River. If they pull those 2 off, they'll be back in the top 15 with the story being "quality losses" to two top-5 teams.

looks like OU may lose 1-2 more.

They could. They could also sweep the conference. Most likely drop 1 against somebody currently off the radar - OkSt? KSU? WVU? Those 3 are usually good an upset now and then.

Baylor has lit up FCS and 2 more cupcakes (Rice and SMU)... I guess they're the biggest competition since they haven't really mis-stepped and remain untested.
TCU limped by the juggernauts of San Diego State, lost to Arkansas, ... even 41-20 over hapless ISU isn't very reassuring or redeeming.
And then we have Texas lol

True but if that does play out then when it comes to nut cutting time, they are still a 2 loss conference champ.

That's what makes me think this could be the year we see an at large beat out very weak conference champs for playoff spot(s).

LJB - I have too much respect for you and what you do for BP to challenge your arguments, but it is too early for dooms day predictions.
Let the season play out, watch the other conferences beat up on each other and see what happens.

I believe that we will see the B1G with one team in the playoff.

I highly doubt that. tOSU is rebuilding towards 2015. Sparty may run the table from here on out, but the stigma from that Oregon loss, and the state of the B1G would almost certainly leave them on the outside looking in. The entire West division is drenched in mediocrity. scUM looks to be little different from the past two seasons. And ped aggy is still dealing with the fallout from Sandusky.

Thankfully @NFBuck was way off. 8D
