Ohio State alumni squad Scarlet & Gray is set to return to the court Friday night in Atlanta as they try to advance to The Basketball Tournament's quarterfinals for the second straight summer.

In order to do so however, the Buckeye alums will have get by the No. 12 seed Primetime Players without a pair of their best players, Jared Sullinger and B.J. Mullens. Sullinger, who is set to be married on Saturday, is expected to miss the entire weekend, while Mullens has decided to skip the remaining games in the tournament following a dispute over his share of the $2 million winnings that goes to the team who sweeps the bracket.

The Primetime Players roster is made up largely of alumni from a variety of smaller schools. They advanced through to the Super 16 by upsetting both No. 5 seed Always a Brave and No. 4 seed Big X, the team that featured Andrew Dakich. Both games were close, as the Primetime Players won by a combined seven points in the two contests.

Should Scarlet & Gray defeat the Primetime Players on Friday at 9 p.m. on ESPN, they would advance to the quarterfinals to take on the winner of Team Fredette vs. Fort Wayne Champs. The quarterfinal game would be played on Sunday at 3 p.m.

Yeah they played really well when Mullens was in for the first game. I wonder how they wanted the split. I thought they would all get a even split especially for all the guys that actually play. I actually thought from how Mullens played that he has as much of a shot at playing in the NBA as anyone on the squad. Teams are looking for stretch 5s now.

After that first game he looked like a key piece to the team especially since they knew Sullinger was going to take a weekend off.

Craft and Diebler still doing their thing, and although Greg is clearly struggling with conditioning he sure can dominate with the ball in his hands around the basket. I was disappointed when Craft turned and kicked that fast break out to Diebler instead of lofting it up for the big fella running the floor but all was forgiven when he nailed the 3.

I started watching in the middle of the second quarter but Oden doesn't seem to have any lift. Sadly I think Mullens would have been more helpful. Oden is bigger than everyone else but doesn't look like he could jump over a phone book.

Watching him and Diebler makes me wonder why they aren't in the NBA. Craft would be a great backup PG. He could run some teams second unit for 15 minutes a game.

Diebler shot is so pure, he reminds me of Kyle Korver. I'm not sure why teams aren't knock down doors to get a shooter like him.
