Carmen’s Crew’s The Basketball Tournament title defense got off on the right foot on Saturday.

Led by the duo of forward Scott Thomas and guard Jamel Morris, No. 1 Carmen’s Crew took down No. 8 GoTime Green Machine 78-67 at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis to kick off the team’s journey for a second consecutive The Basketball Tournament championship. Thomas produced 20 points while hitting four triples, and Morris added 13 points on 5-of-10 shooting, including the game-ending layup.

Carmen’s Crew will continue its TBT run on Monday at 6 p.m., when it plays the winner of Saturday’s first-round game between Locked In Elite and Fort Wayne Champs. The game will be streamed on YouTube.

Update: The Champs steamrolled Locked In Elite, 103-56, in Saturday’s TBT opener at Hinkle Fieldhouse.

Carmen's Crew Continues Title Defense with 73-69 Victory over Fort Wayne Champs​

Carmen's Crew advances to play in the Indianapolis Regional Final at 8 p.m. on Tuesday. Carmen's Crew will play Fail Harder.

Fail Harder, a second time entry into TBT, will try to make their mark at Hinkle Fieldhouse this summer. Organized by Indianapolis basketball legend, Kyle Guy, this squad is bringing a collection of talent from all over with hopes to play spoiler in the Butler Regional.

Without William Buford, a former Ohio State standout and TBT MVP, Carmen’s Crew never found a rhythm at Butler’s Hinkle Fieldhouse on Tuesday. After claiming a 2-0 lead seconds after tip-off, Carmen’s Crew trailed the remainder of the game, with Fail Harder leading by 19 points at halftime and 14 points when the Elam Ending began.
