The 2020 College Football Season

Orgeron is saying he wants the stadium 50% full. That's 40K people packed in 12 inches apart for three hours. Bring a ventilator.

As much as i'm conflicted about the B1G straight up shutting everything down. The SEC/Big 12/ACC "We ArE pLaYiNg No MaTtEr WhAt" approach might actually be worse. They are essentially banking on getting through everything with minimal to no instances, which is VERY wishful thinking at this point. I'd still be surprised if toe actually meets leather in 2020 for anyone but they seem determined to ride the sinking ship as long as they can.

2 weeks tops until the others come around and decide that playing probably isn't a good idea. They got their initial "fuck everyone else we do what we want" stage but that will fade pretty quick once things actually start settling in.

The Big 12 putting out a revised schedule doesnt mean shit. The Big 10 did that and cancelled days later. AFTER starting practices. Good luck with that.

Lets say something happens in the next month that shows clearly its ok for the kids to be playing or whatever.....

is there any chance the B1G backtracks and says “oh we now have new information and we’re changing our minds” or do they go stubborn and stay closed down

That assumes they follow through. If they call it off a week or two before the season starts they get the best of both worlds... They tried their hardest but it didn't work out... As opposed to the Big Ten's timing which looks like an awful overreaction to one irrelevant conference in their footprint canceling

One can assume that's the only reason they are still allowing them to practice. However if they were planning on doing so they should have said for now it doesn't look good but we will keep our options open rather than cancel

Will the same people who made this fucked up decision back track and change it?

I'm going to go with 'no fucking way'.

Or things could get really bad and those conferences face a PR shit storm for not cancelling soon enough........Theres really a lot that could happen. Starting a finishing a season for anyone this year is probably the lowest probability of the outcomes.
