I hope he is healthy now, that is the part I doubt that we will get an honest answer about.

Pitt is at rock bottom right now. If he wants back in, there has to be better options. Ole Miss would be much more interesting than Pitt right now, IMO. The top of the ACC is too strong for Pitt to ever regain what they had in the Big East, plus regional recruiting ties are out of whack with Pitt in the ACC.

Yeah, that’s kinda what I was thinking when I was typing.

More power to him if he wants another go. I wish him well anywhere not in that state up north or one to the east either.

But I will say this, if someone paid me handsomely to look for another job when I’m his age, and that’s not even to mention his back and legs, I’d be very pleased to satisfy the legal obligations in order to cash the check and enjoy life. And to that end, like I said, more power to him.

Georgia won't accept NIT offer, scheduled to meet with Thad Matta

Georgia will not accept a bid, if offered, to play in the NIT after firing coach Mark Fox.

Fox said Sunday at a news conference that "players have elected that they will not participate in that." Georgia spokesman Mike Mobley confirmed the school would honor the players' vote.

Fox was fired Saturday, ending the coach's nine-year stay.

Possible candidates to replace him include former Ohio State coach Thad Matta and former Indiana and Marquette coach Tom Crean. A source close to the discussions told ESPN's Jeff Goodman that Matta is scheduled to meet with Georgia officials Monday.

Matta, 50, was fired by Ohio State in June after 13 seasons with the Buckeyes. He took the school to the national title game in 2007, the Final Four in 2012 and the Elite Eight in 2013.

Sources close to Matta have said he is in better physical shape, feels rejuvenated after dealing with back and foot issues and is interested in returning to coaching.

His medical issues were related to a bad back surgery a decade ago, which left him in a brace with a "drop foot" that made it hard to even stand and walk at times. He has actually seemed a lot physically better in the past year or two, but it took a toll on his recruiting over the years, which resulted in a couple bad classes that ended it for him. He was definitely never dying!
