Texas...Your new number one in the BCS..

Not sure why he would leave.

He'd probably go as a Matt Jones type player. Get turned into a receiver because he's a freak of an athlete, but he's not an NFL QB, IMO.

You're kidding. He'll go as the Next Donovan McNabb/Mike Vick/Dante Culpepper QB and he could end up being the best of that very exclusive lot. Who would you take over him, Matt Leinhart? Ha!

Ummm... yeah. Leinart would be a good place to start.

A couple things working against Young

The Big XII has not produced an NFL calibur QB in.... well as long as I can remember.

Young has a rep as being weak at passing - the NFL is a passing league.

Look, I like VY a lot, and think i'd be thrilled if he wore S&G. But I don' t see him winding up in the same company as McNabb/Vick/Culpepper.

I do see him in the company of Randle El. ANd he's athletic enough he could end up being a VERY good Wide out.

Are you sure that you're not from College Station?

That's funny.

I'm not saying that he's not a great college QB. He beat a darn good Ohio State defense with his arm, which is what they wanted him to have to do. I think.

I'm coming at it from a "Why would he leave early" point of view. He certainly isn't a first round pick as a QB. I don't believe any NFL team would draft him in the first round with the thought that he is going to be their QB of the future.

That said, if he projects as a first round pick, regardless of position, then I would have to think he would give serious consideration to leaving. He'd be foolish not to. Just like when Maurice Clarett was being...oh wait...never mind.

How many NFL caliber QB's had the MAC produced before their current crop? I don't buy that as an argument.
I think VY will definitely get a chance to play QB in the league. These NFL talent scouts aren't that smart. Leaf, Couch, Akili Smith, Marino, Wuerffel etc.
I think he can be a very good QB a la Vick. Numbers aren't super pretty, but just winning ball games.

Vince is a much more accurate passer than vick, however he is not quite the runner. I think that Vince will be more in the mold of his mentor steve mcnair or Steve Young. We all know that he throws side arm but he gets very few balls batted down and he is the second highest rated passer in the nation. Then on top of that you are drafting a guy that can make things happen with his feet when protection breaks down or the secondary has everyone locked up down field. He is not as careless about his body as vick is either. Vy is constantly avoiding hits by taking what he can get and then getting out of bounds. In addition he is larger than vick and will be able to physically hold up better. Durability is simply not an issue. I have changed my tune on this after watching the way vick plays. Vick is simply much more careless with his body than vince is.

These are just some of my opinions and for what its worth, I hope I am right

Have any Texas fans (or boards) given consideration to the possibility that when the season is over, Texas could wind up being #3 in the BCS? USC should get back to #1 with Cal, UCLA, and Fresno St upcoming. Virginia Tech's SOS will go off the charts with BC, Miami, and probably FSU in the title game. Texas however will certainly drop in the computers since it doesn't have another game against an opponent that is ranked, aside from possibly the winner of the Big-XII North (Colorado/Mizz) which Texas has already beaten once.

It is quite possible for Texas to be #2 in both human polls with a good number of first place votes, yet wind up 4th or 5th in the computers behind USC, Va Tech, Georgia ... ?

Some things are cliche because they're true. Michigan RB's is another example. The Big XII can't be counted on to consistantly produce NFL calibur QB's (Neither can OSU, I should add)

I saw something somewhere (no, I won't be providing a link) that said USC and Texas, if they were to win out, would be in the Rose Bowl. It had run all the computer polls through every win/loss scenario and there is no way either team could be left out. Being able to accurately do this seems a little far-fetched to me, but what the hell do I know?

I think that most texas fans and boards are of the opinion that the gap between #2 and #3 is large enough to make up for the sos. any honest horn fan will say that usc will jump back over texas sometime in the next 1-3 weeks. Vtech fans on the other hand are convinced that they will jump texas. Should be interesting. The bottom line is that if more than 2 teams go undefeated then someone will get screwed. I just hope that its not us

I hope 4 teams go undefeated. That should spell the end of the BCS.

No, if 4 teams go undfeated then the BCS settles the difference between those 4 schools and does precisely what it was designed to do. I don't like the BCS any better than anyone else, but it's not because of the teams it ends up "picking" it's becuase its a stupid way to determine a champion altogether.
