Because the contract between the schools specified an August 30 (Saturday) date. A change to Sunday would require a change to the contract and both schools would have to agree.

I was there too, and I saw a lot of outrageous shit go down. Holbrook was right to apologize. My using that as a meme is more about mocking the histrionics of the tejas fans acting like that bad behavior was akin to Tiananmen Square for years afterwards than any call for a repeat.
