Texas Longhorns (big hat, no cattle; please don’t Horns Down us)

The pundits love to talk about Ohio State has "beaten nobody"

But their precious Texas current best win is fucking UL Monroe

Theres a legit chance they could finish the year without a single top 25 win.

Wont stop them from getting into the playoff though with 2 losses if it shakes out that way.

But you forget, with SEC teams, it's always what they were ranked at the time of the game...not where they finish. For B1G teams, it's the (correct) opposite.

This is so true.

I'm tired people who talk about how great of a coach Dan Mullen is because he got Miss State #1 for a few weeks because he beat 3 teams that were ranked in the top 10-15 in a row at the time when he played them.
(I imagine none of you or your fellow fans of B1G programs talk about that anymore, but among SEC fan circles it still comes up from time to time). All 3 of those teams (LSU, Auburn, and Aggy) finished 8-5 that year.

So basically he beat a bunch of 8-5 teams in late September/early October while they were still unbeaten or had 1 loss, and got over ranked because it seemed impressive at the time.

I doubt that is at all voluntary. If it's true, Sark has told him either he's going with Manning or opening up a mid-season QB competition. Ewers response is "fuck you; I'm out." Now, I don't agree with Ewers doing that, but I just can't see him quitting on a certain playoff team if he's still the guy.

It's going to be hilarious watching them claim Michigan as a "great win" for Texas and in the same breath saying "big deal they shoulda won" when we beat them.

For the most part, you are correct, but I really and truly wish there was an easy way to judge each individual game instead of just applying a blanket to all games. Because teams do evolve and fluctuate during the season.
Especially if injuries happen.

An extreme example would be Oregon back in '07. They were sitting at #2 in the country into November when Dennis Dixon got hurt. Ended the regular season unranked. Teams that played them with Dixon should be judged differently than teams that played them without him.

sometimes it's the other way around.
LSU looked like complete dog shit through September 2017. But finished that season strong and respectable.
Beating them in September wasn't a great accomplishment (Miss St. Boat raced them, we barely survived against Syracuse, Troy beat us at home). But by late November, we were looking solid and just outside the top 15. Troy shouldn't get credit for beating what LSU ended up being. They should get credit for beating the dysfunctional mess that was early season LSU.
