The problem with the polls is that they got to #1, in part, by beating #10 *ichigan. Now, we don't care what happens to *ichigan - Texas is still #1 (until the next polls come out). So they'll fall from #1 in the next polls, but their foundation of beating *ichigan will still be there. They'll only drop to #5, or something around there.
Human polls look at where a team was last week, and change the ranks based on what they did this week. They rarely, if ever, look at the entire season. I think the only time I can remember them looking at more than last week was when Kirk Herbstreit dropped Ohio State 5 spots after beating Arkansas, because Wisconsin lost and he dropped them 5 spots, and Wisconsin should be ahead of Ohio State because Wisconsin beat Ohio State earlier.

The pundits love to talk about Ohio State has "beaten nobody"

But their precious Texas current best win is fucking UL Monroe

Theres a legit chance they could finish the year without a single top 25 win.

Wont stop them from getting into the playoff though with 2 losses if it shakes out that way.
