Texas Longhorns (big hat, no cattle; please don’t Horns Down us)

If Ewers misses even 1 game, and Manning starts. Idk if the Longhorn base would want Ewers back starting. I know that it comes down to Sark's decision at the end of the day. But I can see the fan base turning on Ewers if Manning starts, succeeds and then Ewers becomes healthy.

UT Twitter accounts have already anointed Manning as the #1 draft pick now and forgot who Ewers is.

Another parallel between scUM and ut

How dumb is your fan base that 6 passes against the Co State team that just lost to the clown show in Boulder, followed by a dozen throws against UTSA are enough to anoint this guy?

Even if they wait until they’ve played Louisiana Monroe and the Miss Stake team that just lost to Toledo, they still will not have seen him against anyone with a pulse

Who cares, they're only looking at the last name(which I'm sure you already knew)
Ewers will regret not bolting before this season, he should've known how hot his seat was, and he couldn't get injured or even have an average game, or the pitchforks would be out. And the Manning for QB1 signs would be out

Especially for someone prone to injury like Ewers. He was the Heisman favorite this time last week, and now one wonders if he'll even start the rest of the season.

Don't know how different that is from the situation in Columbus. BUT sure would have loved to have seen Ewers with last year's Buckeyes.

I don't understand the correlation?
Fans are fans. Buckeye fans called for Brown to be QB before and after Day made his choice. If they hadn't scored on that final drive in South Bend there would have been a ton of fans calling for Brown to start the next game. I don't think anyone would have beat out Ewers if he had been available to the Buckeyes last year.

I think that's a little bit of a stretch. Buckeye fans calling for Brown, or even McCord a year prior to start was never going to be the fever pitch that it is having a Manning as your backup QB. Only comparison I can see to this in sports, its having Bronny on the USC team. They're name creates a hype that is bigger than the team. I can guarantee you that there are tons of Manning jerseys in DKR stadium on Saturdays, the only people wearing Brown jerseys is his family

I doubt it. I distinctly remember being told that tejas fans are far too sophisticated and worldly as to wear jerseys.

And this proves my point! There wasn’t an analyst outside of Buckeye beat writers who knew even who Brown and McCord were. Ewers better get healthy quick and hope Sark doesn't let the fans and boosters dictate his starter because he could have a QB controversy Mid season and derail the whole season... :sneaky:

Already tired of this shit. Not sure what's more pathetic, the writer trolling for clicks putting Manning in as a placeholder for Ewers, or that a ton of people will believe it.

And the throws were your garden variety big gains due to fast players and blown coverages with a few impressive ones mixed in. Watching your backup light up a team that lost to TX St by 39 is fun and gets fans hyped for the future, but you have to be braindead to want him in against top defenses.
