Only if they have to play Georgia while the Buckeyes beat the snot out of Oregon. There wasn't much left of the 2021 Buckeyes after that brawl with Clemson while Alabama coasted by ND.

While I agree, I can't imagine a world without an SEC team in the final four.

The only way it can happen is if there is an 8+ team playoff and the SEC teams all lost prior to the final 4.

It would take a 3 loss SEC champ with the loser of the SEC title having 2 losses.

Even then its still likely they'd put one in (depending on the teams) or try their hardest to at the least. The campaigning for a 3 loss bama because they lost "3 really tough games" would be comical and predictable.
