Texas 21, Alabama 37 (BCSCG) Jan 7, 2010 on ABC

Worst championship game ever, I was asleep by halfway through the third quarter. The USC over Oklahoma annihilation comes in 2nd only because it was so fun watching the Sooners getting their asses kicked.
I take it back, the game against Florida in Glendale was the worst ever only because I felt so badly afterward. It was a bad game too though.

I disagree. I thought it was a very good game given the curveball that was thrown at the Horns. It started slowly, but actually got very interesting in the 2nd half. To me, the Glendale debacle and USC's whitewashing of OU are far and away the worst.

If I'd stayed up and watched all the way through maybe I'd feel differently but midway through the third quarter Texas still couldn't do a thing on offense and 'Bama was just running straight up the gut for two yards a whack. This was probably the first time I remember giving up on a championship game without watching it all the way through. I just felt like with McCoy out there was no use in seeing it through.

Texas had the ball down 3 with a few minutes remaining in the game, and Bama struggled to run the ball for almost the entire second half.

Exactly, despite a crippling handicap, it would up being one of the more exciting BCSCG IMO. I was rooting like crazy for the Horns...

I guess I should've stay up and watched. When I'd seen the final score in the morning I didn't know it was that close at one time. I just assumed that Texas got a few garbage Tds at the end.

Pure class, Saban.

Not a whisper from anyone about running up the score :roll1:

Not a one. Not even an "I'm surprised Alabama isn't taking a knee" much less a "this is completely unnecessary."

They are also chanting "S-E-C" because for the first time in the history of college football - one conference has won the MNC four years in a row.

The "S-E-C" chant really doesn't bother me. I find it a bit silly and occasionally tiresome, but overall....whatever. That being said.....

I know jwins already called you on this one, but it's still bullshit. You people (and I mean that as snidely as it would sound :p) chanted it last year and the year before and probably the year before that.......if this was the first NC in 15 years you people (ya'll if you'd prefer) would still chant it.

And as someone else mentioned....I will never, ever get doing it at the game. I can totally appreciate the conference pride after the fact, but during and immediately following an NC game victory? Just don't get it.

How predictable... a Dawg stepping out of the way when the going gets tough and letting a Gator do his fighting for him... then probably claiming victory all the same. :wink2:

7) I don't know much of the background, but am I the only one who was confused with the love being thrown at Ingram's incarcerated father? Is he going to be doing time, because he committed a wrong that was actually of valor?

Comical on their part. It was asinine when they talked about Adrian Peterson's father and it was asinine last night. :shake:

Winning 4 national championships in a row would be a hell of a lot more impressive if winning the conference wasn't an automatic berth in the MNC, or if one of the other 9 teams in the conference could do anything worth talking about.

Now you are really grasping at straws. Three different teams from one's same conference winning the MNC in three consecutive years and you talk about other teams not doing anything worth talking about? IC, I hope you live to the ripe old age of 100, and that the Bucks win forty more Big-10 titles, every Rose Bowl you play in, and numerous MNCs. But if that fortunate occurrence happens, I very much think that you will have died never experiencing three different teams Big-10 teams winning the MNC in three consecutive years.* The next obvious factor is that you demean the SEC's Bowl record of 6-4 while, I suppose, thinking the Big-10's 4-3 2010 bowl record is far better than ours. One team won a BCSNC, and that was an SEC team. The Bucks win was awesome. But, all due respect, not an achievement equal to a BCSNC. One team had an offensive performance that set the all time BCS passing offense and individual yards record. That was also an SEC team. Maybe you have a bowl game (non-BCS of course) that you thinks stacks up to that accomplishment, and will inform us all. But if not, your comment is silly. My commenting on SEC success is not meant as a slam at you. The Big-10 had a really successful year, and you had a good bowl showing. I have no need to criticize your conference for anything they did this fall. Finally some of the heat is off of you due to the great victory over the Ducks. And I have no desire to insult anything about tOSU, a program that I have grown fond of and that has one of the true coaching greats.

But you leave me wondering how you reconcile the part of your brain that says that SEC victories do not inure to other SEC teams while maintaining that the fourth in a row BCSNC is somehow diminished by you pointing out an SEC bowl win percentage higher than the Big-10s...

As to your "automatic berth to the MNC" slam, anyone with the slightest bit of neutrality has to admit that six of six somewhat validates the premise supporting the "automatic berth". I remember lots of lobbying by Meyer, bitching about his lobbying, but nothing about any auto bid. Anyway, if it is an auto bid, never losing a BCSCG in six tries can have an effect on voters' minds even more compelling than the mighty S-E-C chant.

Congrats on a great season for the Big-10 and for Ohio State, who did the most to bury the myth of Big-10 inadequacy in a highly public manner.

* Of course, that is not meant as smack or an insult, and I've been advised that you don't give a crap about any one in the conference save the Buckeyes - right? I mean, its certainly not a slap at tOSU. You guys have carried the water for the whole Big-10 for years.

Outside of your discussion with IC, I'd like to ask why this means that much to you?

For me, personally, I'm really only concerned with the NCs of my favorite school. I've never cared at all regarding the national championships of other Big Ten schools, because that would mean that tOSU didn't get one.
This transpires in every other sport for me as well. I like the Lakers, but I don't get any jollies if another team from the same division wins the title. Maybe I'm assuming the wrong corrollary, but I really don't understand the emphasis you place on another SEC team's championship(s).
