Texas 21, Alabama 37 (BCSCG) Jan 7, 2010 on ABC

An incredibly disappointing game to watch. Without McCoy, Texas really didn't have much of a chance. With him, I think they did.

Well done to Alabama and condolences to Texas fans. Your team put in a credible effort in the second half despite losing McCoy. As always, Texas a class act in the aftermath.

Worry about DaU and Iowa first. Then talk celebration.

You're right. Ohio State has much to prepare for next year. Getting to the NC game will require lots of luck, as it does for every team.

How's Georgia's national championship run shaping up for next year?

I stopped watching when the game was over (1st half). With McCoy Texas had a chance and not with the freshman.

Well, we're going to have a 1st year starter at QB (again) so we'll be breaking in a new arm and of course we'll have to get out of the SEC first. Not sure if you follow the game much - but it's kinda tough.

While many here think it idiotic for us to display pride of accomplishment for one's conference, and view reference to stats as "smack" (at least when said stats favor the SEC), the fact that the SEC is a perfect 6-0 in BCS Championship Games with four different teams is damn impressive.

With our six appearances we lag only the Big -12 by one appearance in the Championship game - and yet the SEC has won four more Titles than the Big-12. Our four different teams having won a Crystal Trophy is double the number of any other conference.

Which is why an SEC one loss team will likely jump an undefeated team from somewhere else. And that is one of the main reasons for our little PR chant. As long as poll voters help determine who plays in the BCSCG, and which programs are participants in BCS and other bowl match ups, it is very good business for us to keep "selling" that fact with our little cheer.

6-0. 1.0000 Silly and idiotic? OK.

I hope displays of exactly that kind of silliness and idiocy continue for a very long time.

Point of Pride - Certainly yes. Our conference just added another crystal football to its already substantial collection.

Purdue fans (read: fans of a team who similarly can't get it done on the field, and therefore have to live vicariously through other teams in their conference who actually can) probably said the same thing when OSU beat Miami for the crystal.

Saban has the personality of a banana peel on the road that's been run over about 50 times. I thought he was going to start choking some bitches after that gatorade bath. Seems like he gets no joy from his job whatsoever. Re-enforces the "mercinary" tag. Wonder how long until he moves on to the next job?

Bingo. I've been saying for years that the whole "conference pride" argument that has taken off recently (and displayed in the SEC to a greater extent than anywhere else) is a direct result of Auburn being left out in the dark in '03.

Man, I thought the SEC posters on this board were above the "SEC-SEC-SEC" garbage. Guess I was wrong. If you ever see me chanting "Big Ten" if scUM () or State Penn would win a National Title, I'd hope you folks would have the decency to brain stem me.
