"We hear a lot of stuff from the SEC -- I think that's a great statement that UCLA was able to knock those guys off," Carroll said. "I don't know what they'll say from the other side, but you can't make a stronger statement. One of their stronger teams got beaten by a first opportunity for a new coach in a new program. It was a great win for UCLA and I think it does make a big statement. I'm glad it happened."

Tennessee message-board venom

When any school loses a game it shouldn't, fans search far and wide for someone to blame. When an SEC school loses a game it shouldn't, the attacks on those perceived to be at fault for the loss can get downright nasty. So when a Tennessee fan -- and booster, and former president of the UT alumni association -- logged on to a message board and heaped blame on tailback Arian Foster for the Vols' 27-24 overtime loss at UCLA on Monday, Foster's mother, Bernadette, returned fire...continued...

That was freakin' sweet, I originally thought it was going to be all Mustains mom again, but no she makes some nice points, and frankly, that's what moms do. They have talons, and when people attack their kids, they are viscious

Yeah I was hoping to see something about the money involved with the booster, but oh well. I say kudos to Fosters mom. The fact that the first thing she stated was that "yes, he fumbled. shouldn't have, but it happened, no excuse for it." but then like any mother would she went right to her sons defense and attacked some fat slob from memphis who uses his "wealth" to buy friendships from football players half his age that he idolizes. I can guarantee you that those very same players at his house watching games with him making him feel "important" were the same guys he was blasting years ago if they fumbled or screwed up.

That pretty much sums up the difference between the universities of the SEC and the Big Ten. Sure, Big Ten schools have idiot fans who, while posting under message board names like Buckstud or Wolvstud or Hawkstud, trash their own players out of frustration at losing a game because living vicariously through the sports teams' accomplishments is the only thing that brings meaning to their sad little lives.

They just aren't former presidents of the frickin' alumni association!
