I don't mean to compare conferences here but I can remember a while back the at least two team from the SEC have ventured out in the beginning of the OOC scheduling and have played teams from the PAC10 in the past 10 to 20 years and they were Alabama and Tennessee. The BIG10 have been doing that as well for many many years. Strenght of schedule has a dominoe theory because of the fact that we all know many schedules are made 8 to 10 years in advance. I can't remember teams like Florida or Georgia going out on the limb to play teams early in the year to bolster thier strenght of schedule apperances.
Don't forget Auburn and Arkansas (in years they won their respective division championships to boot) getting drilled by USC in their respective series by the combined four game score of 789-21.

No kidding. Normally we see these performances against the likes of Ole Miss, Miss Stake, Arkansas & Kentucky, and people say it's indicative of the strength of the conference. Now maybe they can start calling it what it is: crap football.

Anyone can have a bad game. First games mean even less than most games. So I can only say that if it is crap football, it is a faster brand of crap. :p

Well Kip, until recently we had an annual top ten opponent in FSU that always kept our SOS among the nation's highest, even with the tune-up cupcakes. The Noles f-ed that up.:(

I saw the home and home with USC in the early 80s. Great games. Wiish we had more of those.

FSU was a lot more dominate then michigan. Same sorta thing now with them. You can't control how bad a team can get on your schedule years ahead.

This is funny. The SEC speed couldn't beat a team using their third-string QB and a young, inexperienced o-line. They couldn't win, despite having four INTs in the first half alone, and despite UCLA having 29 rushing yards on 31 carries.

Seriously, how in the fuck do you lose that game?

I guess the answer is simple: Phillip Fulmer.

I've been rooting my ass off for UCLA since I lost my vcash on UT.

Elmer Fudd or Tommy Bowden...which coach can do less with more?

Tommy Bowden, of course. at least Fat Fill has 1998 to hang his hat on... (AAARGH!! dammit, Clint Stoerner! why'd you have to use the hand the ball was in to catch your balance?!? *breaks stuff*) :p

And there you have it. The new, threatening innovation following the spread...the diarrhea attack.

Brought to you ONLY by the SEC.
