Tenn +16.5 at LSU (ov/un 42.5) 3:30 ET CBS

The refs made the correct call.

If that happened to OSU and the call wasn't made, people on here would be in nuclear meltdown mode.

Don't look like morons by pulling the tired and juvenile, SEC is fixed nonsense.

Right call as much as we hate it.

You are ignoring the fact that no penalty was called on the field. Penalties or lack of, are not reviewable as far as I know. I have no problem with calling a penalty on the play, if it were called on the field. I have a problem with ending the game, and then having a spontaneous review afterwards, and calling a penalty. I really don't care for either team, I'm just perplexed.

No one is truly debating the too many men call, it's just that several other possible penalties were outright IGNORED as well.

PS: I added a "rigged" tag just for Thump

The number of players on the field IS reviewable. Unsportsmanlike conduct, personal fouls, etc. are NOT reviewable. Seems to me that they got it right.

And it should be.

I don't think anyone here is saying they should have reviewed and called #53 for throwing his helmet and/or if LSU was lined up legally or not, but they DID miss the call while the ball was still live. That's the point I think.

Just because the play that is ongoing is going to end the game doesn't mean the penalties that are there shouldn't be at least marked if not called.

I was distracted watching the UM game.....Was the too many men penalty called originally or on replay?

on replay.

There were no penalties called and it seemed like the refs were content on getting the hell out of dodge until the replay officials called them over for the quickest replay ever which resulted in the penalty.

This result can not stand.

NCAA rules clearly state that once a team runs on the field to celebrate they shall be declared the winners regardless of any calls by the officials.

This rule has been in effect since January 4th, 2003.

It's the fact they conveniently ignored the center channeling his inner Dwayne Ruud that bothers me...if they thought the game was over intiially, well, obviously it wasn't, so they should have called that one as well...not sure of that would be offsetting or the game would have been over or waht, but they were standing right in front of it.

I think, given that two Tennessee and one LSU player were still fighting over a loose ball and therefore the play was still in action, that would make it off-setting fouls and the game would have been over.

Since it was a defense-only penalty and since games can't end on defensive penalties, LSU got a chance to win it again.
