Team I would most like to meet in a Bowl

I would love to play Georgia. I lived in Savannah for 4 years and every year all I heard about was the Dawgs this and the Dawgs that. Every year they were pre-season like #5 and would end up #13 or so. I have moved to Florida know and have a few Gator fans for friends and after what they did to us in my opinion they have a right to spout off a little. The Georgia friends I have always talk smack and I'd love a shot at them. I hope we make a BCS this year but since I live 4 hours from Orlando (Capitol One Bowl) and 2 hours from Tampa (Outback Bowl) I wouldn't mind taking a couple days vacation and taking my girl up for a game (since shes a fan but has never been to a game).

I think this year we'll be good to go in our bowl game. No huge NCG to prepare for and all that hype and the only thing we'd have to do is just play ball. Kinda like in 03' when we got to the fiesta against k-state with two loses.. No pressure just go out and prove ourselves and I think we'll be very competitive against everyone BESIDES Texas Tech (their offense is just impossible to stop, and with our lack of pass rush sometimes oh gosh)

Actually the team I want to see if Texas Tech.

I think Ohio State has the talent in the defensive backfield to challenge their receivers AND I think the defensive scheme would be modified ala what happened against Purdidn't to put our guys in the right spots.

If you're going to compare last year's Colt McCoy to this year's Colt McCoy and say he's the same based on yards alone, I'm going to have to throw these numbers out there for you.

Last year he had 18 picks, he's on pace for 8 this year.
He's on pace to raise his completion percentage by 13%.
He's on pace to have 11 more TDs.
On pace for a QB rating around 40 points higher than last year.
Projected to throw the ball 50 times fewer this year, despite being on pace for higher stats in every category, except INTs.

And I'm not even going to mention rushing yards. Colt as a freshman wasn't as big of a running threat as he is this year. He was a running threat last year for sure, but he's still going to have a much better season running the ball this year.

But we're going away from the original topic. I don't like OSU's chances against anyone in the top 10, except Utah and maybe Boise State. I'm probably going to feel this way until they prove they can beat an elite team on both sides of the ball. No offense to MSU and NW'ern, but they're not elite teams on either side of the ball. At all.

He has gotten more accurate. I'll give you that. I still think we can play UT well, mainly because our guys in the secondary have seen their WRs, and we can blanket them. Jenkins can shut down shipley period. UT hasn't played anyone out of conference in the McCoy years besides us, so I have my suspicions about the B12 defenses that are allowing such gargantuan numbers.

I have my suspicion about the defenses too. My concern with the Big 12 teams is based on our performance against non-conference teams in big games. Look at our defensive efforts in our three previous huge games. That's why I don't want to go against these elite offenses. LSU wan't even an elite offense IMO.

Our offense has also been too inconsistent for me to be comfortable with it. Again, we haven't performed in the big games. We scored some points against LSU, but when our defense isn't playing football we need to score a lot more points. In the other two games, we scored 14 and 3.

I wish I had most others' confidence. :tongue2:

I totally agree that we haven't executed in some big games. But if you look at teams like the B12 like an OU or UT, what have they really done? OU consistently get blown out of the water in BCS bowls despite racking up huge yardage and heisman talks against B12 defenses. Tech, Mizzo and Kansas flat out haven't beaten anyone outside of the B12. I don't think they really know how to play D in that conference, but that's my opinion.

I would really like a matchup against a B12 team to see where this team is at.

Can you spell Ewe von Schanman (I cannot).....folks, agree with me or not, but OSU's gotta play and whip an SEC team. Until that happens, the pollsters (and you know who you are) will keep putting a weaker SEC team (as of today, read that as Georgia) over our beloved Buckeyes. 0-9 is brought up again and again......at least if we make it 1-9, we're on a winning streak .

As serious as I can be after a couple glasses of good cabernet, in my heart of hearts I believe OSU needs to get a win on the board against an SEC team. Heck, I'd take Georgia (I happen to agree that Florida would clean OSU's clock) (ouch, that hurt Gator), but any other SEC team - I'd even take Vandy (or Tennessee).

I think we match up well against Texas, and OK against OKlahoma (no pun intended). Or any Big 12 team. For that matter, if OSU tees it up against Texas Tech (the goatropers), then for sure the entire D-backfield goes pro a year early when they come up with 15 interceptions that game....

I'm not saying that we play the SEC in a bowl, but for OSU to polish up it's tarnished reputation, then it's gotta be the SEC. 'nuff said.

Texas dominated their bowl game last year, Texas Tech won their bowl game, and OU does choke in the big games. But I don't think you can discount how good and efficient those offenses are.

For all we know, the defenses could be good, the offenses just could be so far ahead of them that they look awesome. We won't know until the bowl games. What I do know is that we haven't been impressive against some teams that we should be impressive against, and teams like Texas, Oklahoma, Florida, etc. have impressed in those games.

I would not want to play Tech, so why some of you would is a mystery. UF does not have the pressure with just 4 linemen to effectively impact the passing game. That would be a shoot out fer sure.

I think you want to play UGA or LSU again. Even better, you get Vandy or Ole Miss (yeah I know ).

I see Zook is doing his Zook thing. Winning the odd big game and losinig ones he should win. You have to watch out for that bi-polar sucker. Never know who might show up.

I see the POV with this, but I'm gonna say Bama, A, I hate Nick "Pants on Fire" Saban, B, we need to beat SEC in the post and USC next season to garner respect, only way we get respect back. Oh and did I mention I hate Nick Saban

Best D in the entire Big 12 is OU at 51st. Color me unimpressed. A down year for D's in the Big 12 is exactly what Tech needed to win the fucker. Every other year, at least one or two D's were capable of exposing them. We have the secondary to cover them, imo. This offense has been NOT winning conference titles for years. I can't imagine they're all of a sudden world beaters. Plus, I'll reserve full judgement until they play OU.
