Got it...scratch that thought. Just noticing the tight ends listed on our depth chart and the presumed lack of tackles and wondered. Seems like folks asked about Fragel 6 months ago and the answer was TE for him as well.

Since Fragel, Dilillo and Stoneburner are close in terms of eligibility I wouldn't be surprised to see movement at some point.

Nic is discussed a little bit in the rumor mill. Details are scarce, particularly since it's a sensitive topic any time a player is not invited to camp.

As for the impact on the depth chart, he was 4th behind Stoneburner, Fragel, Spencer Smith.

Also of note at Media Day is that tight end Nic DiLillo, left off of the 105-man camp roster was in attendance.

Sophomore tight end Nic DiLillo is buried on the Ohio State depth chart behind Jake Stoneburner and Reid Fragel. What's surprising is not that he has fallen behind, but that he is a scholarship guy who was left off the 105-man roster that teams are able to bring to camp.

People close to him say DiLillo was told he "didn't make the cut" to be on the 105. They also say Ohio State has been sort of pushing him to transfer, telling him they would help him with the process.

This kind of thing is commonplace at some places - there has been a national discussion in college football circles recently about schools that sign more players than they can have under the 85-scholarship limit and then try to "cut" players who underperform - but this situation is an unusual one at Ohio State, which has never signed more players than it can use under coach Jim Tressel.

DiLillo, though, has no plans to transfer and is expected to report when the roster expands today.

I think it is an error. Ricky Crawford also wears 81 and I didn't see him on the participation chart.

This is true...I watched the game for a second time and DiLillo got no time. Crawford and later Spencer Smith were lined up at TE after Stoneburner and Fragel got their reps in.

Doesn't matter...although I did see him on the sidelines for the bowl game. Likely he won't be back next season...
