TE Kyle Rudolph (Minnesota Vikings)

From the ND site...the two ND sites are really pushing to have Rudolph named as the top player in the state.

Which just goes to show that the ND fans don't get it.

I don't care who gets named Mr. Football in Ohio. I care about who will play the best in college.

This is nothing against Rudolph...but how is getting Rudolph named the top player in the state going to help ND win games over the next 4-5 years?

I think Adams is hands down the best prospect in the state and then Torrence. I think Rudolph is probably at #3 but I could see somebody debating Torrence and Rudolph...even with my scarlet and gray glasses on, Rudolph is an outstanding athlete and ND will get the most out of his potential. ND does use their TE's extensively and Rudolph is going to be a great on imo. ND sites pushing for him to be the top player in the state is a bit ridculous though and they wouldn't be doing that if Rudolph was in our class.

This Rudy no underdog

Elder football star Kyle Rudolph is nicknamed Rudy.

Rudolph's favorite movie is, of course, the tearjerking "Rudy."

"You go to a Catholic school and Notre Dame's a Catholic university, it just seemed like the right fit," Rudolph said.

Rudolph's Irish aye hasn't changed
BY TOM GROESCHEN | ENQUIRER STAFF WRITER

Hang tough, Notre Dame football fans. Kyle Rudolph is on the way.

Rudolph, Elder's 6-foot-7 senior tight end, is not wavering on his oral commitment to Notre Dame. The Irish are 0-5 at this writing, the worst start in school history, and subway alums are desperate for any rays of hope.

Rudolph, rated America's No. 1 tight end prospect by Rivals.com, said he is still eager to play under the Golden Dome next fall.

"My decision is made, and it's final," Rudolph said a few days ago.

Take this FWIW considering the source, but...

Weis, Mastering of Recruiting:

There are rumors from people who are supposedly close to the situations that a number of recruits who committed before ND started its run at a 1 win season are seriously reconsidering their verbals.

Though there are others considering jumping, word is that 4 star tight end Kyle Rudolph is already out the door.

I know that DiLillo is here, but Rudolph is the #1 TE in the country AND from Ohio. We lose Nicol and Brandon Smith after '08, leaving us just Ballard and DiLillo. Would Tressel and the staff really turn him away if he wanted to jump on board now? It may allow us to move Brandon Smith to FB and provide some depth there with Aram Olson, who has yet to play a down for us but has all the tools to be a big player for us, but he has been hurt since he stepped foot on campus.

If this is true it's a very bad sign regarding ND's internal state (not that most of us haven't guessed that already).

Kyle and his family are major ND koolaid drinkers (as are most at Elder).

I would love for this to be true, though I doubt it is. I really doubt Rudolph changes his verbal but if he decided to, OSU would be in great shape and I would have to think the staff would want him. Rudolph is the best TE in the country and you don't pass on a talent like Rudolph.
