I too heard it blows, and that is from Will Ferrel fans. I don't enjoy his 'humor' and haven't found SNL funny since 1995, so that is understandable.

I am his target demograhpic, 20-25, male, white, and yet I think he's shit.

Nascar also blows monkey ass, but I'll try to see this movie, and if it sucks, I'll leave and come back for the credits

I think the movie was decent, but not great. It had some funny parts, but nothing that was extremely hilarious. It isn't close to Anchorman..... neither in laughs nor catch-phrases.

It's still worth seeing, but I don't know about spending another 8.75 on it.

By the way, the french guy sucks in the movie. everything he did was incredibly boring, and really dampered the entire scenes that he was in. they definitely should have brought out someone funnier for Ferrel's rival, maybe even Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, Owen Wilson, Vince Vaughn, Ben Stiller, etc. etc.

as far as the advertising goes, someone told me that wonder bread got to be the featured company for free. i heard they valued all the advertising they are getting at over 3 million bucks.
pathetic... it wasn't a humorous use of ads... merely senseless, awkward transitions to commercials.

For crying out loud, there was a applebees tv commercial about their stupid shrimp in the middle of a crash scene.

Will Ferrell can't carry a movie. He's amusing in short cameos but beyond that I just don't think he's that funny, and he has very little acting ability or screen presence compared to his supposed peers like Vince Vaugn, Ben Stiller or the Wilson brothers.

Whenever I watch Anchorman, one thing jumps out at me: how much more intelligent, funny and better acted it would have been had Vince Vaughn had the lead role and Ferrell had the two minute cameos.

will ferrell was trying to over-exaggerate the typical redneck nascar fan. the funny thing is that he didn't go far enough. the stereotype that he was going for is 95% of the people i come in contact with on a daily basis. it was awesome for me to watch their faces in the theater. they didn't know what to do when they saw themselves on the big screen and how retarded they actually look. i was crying in several spots of the movie. the first time will ferrell said grace, as well as the big red commercial. most people that don't get the wonderful experience (sarcasm) to live in the deep south can't appreciate this movie, because when you leave the theater, the movie isn't over. you quickly realize that you are living in the movie. it is all around you. the people depicted in the movie are real, trust me. the red-headed kid is acutally a car dealer's kid in a small city 30 minutes north of montgomery. this kid has been making us suffer for years with his dad in car commercials. wasn't a large acting stretch to play the role of Texas Ranger, if you catch my drift. also, the applebee's commericals are another joke that most would get unless they lived here. i can't wait until my time here is over.

basically, i thought the movie was good with some awesome moments. i know that i might have a differing opinion than most about this movie, but i thought i would voice it anyway. i mean, that's what forums are for, right?

thanks

In the new SI, they talk about why wonder brad got the free advertising and I believe some expert said that he valued the on screen exposure to being almost 100 million dollars of free advertising.

Exactly what I was talking about in my post. The worst part is that most of the crowd the movie was generated towards(NASCAR fans, teenagers/young adults) don't even realize that this is going on.....

I don't understand all this Will Ferrel talk, when Ricky Bobby is really played by Pete Carroll.
