I know I've seen alot of animostiy toward soccer around here in the past. I love the game very much, but I am not one of those soccer evangelists who is trying to convert everyone into loving soccer. I think though the time has come though, for the people of the Columbus area to step up and show huge support for the Columbus Crew. They are on a league record 16-game unbeaten streak (8-0-8), and with tonight's 1-0 win in Chicago, they locked up the Eastern Conference title and home field advantage throughout the postseason.
I know they will never be as big a deal as the Buckeyes or Blue Jackets or even the Clippers, but the Crew are on a special run right now, and it'd be a downright shame for them to not have the crowd support they deserve when the playoffs arrive. I went to their home playoff match last year against the Revs, and even though the crowd that was there was ok, I think Columbus can do much better. Their first playoff game will be either October 30 or 31 (There is no doubt in my mind that it will be scheduled around the Buckeye football game), and I plan on driving up from Dayton to lend my support. I hope to see a ton of people there!
