I tell you, I think we should ditch the automatic conference berths. That way we get more diverse OOC games, and the 2008 sucky Orange bowl nightmares are replaced by BCS ranking matchups

Agree, but I can see some definite problems potentially arising.

They didn't? Point out any two tough games in a row that Florida had.

Hawaii - weak (if NoD can beat them anyone can)
Miami - weak
Tennessee - VERY weak
Ole Miss - tough (AND THEY LOST THIS GAME)
Arkansas - weak
LSU - pretty weak (especially this point in the year, their QB threw nothin' but INTs)
Kentucky - weak
Georgia - tough (just to make you all happy)
Vanderbilt - weak (they lost to duke and tennessee)
South Carolina - weak (you saw that bowl game right?)
Citadel - :slappy:
Florida State - weak
Alabama - tough
bowl game break
OU - we'll see won't we

We beat 6 teams with bowl victories. You?

My point is not how good per say each team was but the level of athletes each oponent had. Florida took a beating most games. Florida State's D hit, MWC teams, not so much.

Utah didn't have to get beat up every week. LSU sucked because they didn't have a QB not because their D didnt have athletes. Same with Miami

I think we should ditch the berths of specific conferences into specific bowls, if that's what you mean? Then take away the Cotton or Fiesta Bowl and give the Midwest a bowl... let's see how USC and SEC do away from LA and their domes :tongue2:

Doesn't matter. They played a pretty good schedule and didn't lose.

If the "they got beat up more/less" argument flies, I'm done with college football.

That's a good point. Where the hell are all of the Samoans coming from at Utah?

The Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints proselytizes heavily in the Pacific Islands so that exposes them and SLC has one of the larger I guess you'd call them Polynesian expat communites in the US.

Samoa has the most per capita football players of any area/region in the US.

Good article on it

Why? Only playing 3 or 4 games a year where there a reasonable chance of defeat vs. 9 or 10 is a big difference.

Utah's defense was amazing tonight. I completely expected Alabama to win the battle in the trenches. The Utes were flying around out there and the pressure that JP Wilson was under was intense.

Whatever the Utah defense is eating...feed it to the Buckeyes! Man, we need some of that pressure flying down on Colt Monday.

VERY impressed with Utah tonight. Never thought they had a chance against BAMA. The Ute's definitely came to play. Definitely a top 5 team and have the right to make their argument for why they should share in a NC title.

The Ute's win tonight and Old Miss beating TT gives me hope for our game against Texas.
