Sugar Bowl: Utah 31, Alabama 17 (Final)

Although this game played out the way I wanted it to, let's not get ahead of ourselves on the national champions talk. I am a firm believer that navigating through a 12 game schedule in a major conference is much more difficult than getting pumped up for one game (that no one says you can win).

Regardless, congrats to Utah.
One game? So TCU, BYU and Oregon State were crap? What are Florida's best 4 wins? What are Utah's?

Utah dealt Alabama its worst defeat of the season. Florida didn't.

Utah defeated Oregon State. USC didn't.

That's more than "one game" right there.

The problem is that Florida didn't have 1 tough game and then two "off" weeks. I'm not real sure what to think of TCU or BYU either. Who did they beat? TCU got wrecked by OU

Wow. Just...wow!

I just kept waiting for Alabama to do something and they never did. I kept waiting for their defense to make a big stop and it never did.

Utah looked great. Congrats to the Utes!

Bring on the Longhorns!!!!

That felt a lot like Glendale. A pissed off team that was written off coming in focused and making plays against a team that is one of college football's Legend teams. If it wasn't for the weird factor of Texas being stiffed by the Big-12 and Heisman voters, I'd say you were in that underdog role as well in the Fiesta, but the Texas guys could go either way, effort wise.

Just shows that you can't take any of these for granted.

It wasn't like Utah was in Conference USA...they did beat:

Michigan, Air Force, Oregon St., TCU, BYU, and Alabama

Ask the Pac10 what they think about playing teams from the Mountain West...if you give USC credit for going through most of that conference (minus Oregon St. of course) then give the Mountain West credit for going 6-1 against that conference

Tell the voters to stop voting them high, that's the only argument that should matter. If the rankings don't matter, why have them?

Based on rankings, Utah has an impressive resume'.

Half the reason I fucking hate the media is because they always bash the Buckeyes, but continue to vote them high in the polls. Make up your mind.

The problem for me is that Utah stayed focused no matter who they were playing, and showed they can beat anybody and EVERYBODY. Florida did not stay focused and lost. THEY LOST. Florida might be able to beat anybody...but they showed they can't beat everybody.
