I disagree that it's completely irrelevant. Playing a difficult schedule can both help and hurt teams. It helps as the team is accustomed to playing difficult games in difficult situations. They are also not going to get intimidated by playing great teams at the end of the season, such as their bowl game. This won't be a problem for either Arkansas or Ohio St.

On the flip side, playing a difficult schedule can also lead to a team suffering more injuries and being more physically and emotionally drained by the end of the season. Again, I don't see either of these teams suffering from this after the long layoff, but these are legitimate factors to consider.

When you originally wrote,

I realize OSU has more experience in BCS bowls, but the Hogs have more experience this season with ranked teams.

Were you not using the "experience this season with ranked teams" as a positive for your Razorbacks?

It was more or less an attempt to provide a balancing of experience in relation to this game. I keep hearing from fans of both teams(not necessarily on this board) about how Ohio St will have the advantage because of their experience in BCS bowls while Arkansas is playing in their first. I also continue to see the argument about how Arkansas has the advantage because they have played and defeated more ranked opponents than Ohio St. That's why in my other post I said that I don't necessarily think that either team will be affected much, but the factors are legitimate.

You'll have to forgive me if I was a little confusing, I'm working on about 3 hours sleep in the last 3 days and my mind is beginning to migrate off the map.

Not a problem. I was confused, because I wasn't sure how the factors could be legitimate in this game if they don't affect either team. I should also note that I'm not a huge fan of the transitory effect. I particularly enjoy reading DBB's DSA analysis of games and opponents, because it helps with determining probability and looks deeper into the game. However, once the opening whistle sounds, the outcome is up for grabs.

I enjoy looking at the match-ups, analysis, breakdowns, and even the AccuScore predictions for the games. Though I'm pretty confused on how AccuScore arrived at their prediction for this game. They have Knile Davis, our leading rusher with over 1,000 yards, only carrying the ball 4 times while Broderick Green is carrying it nearly 20 times. It doesn't make sense and I have no idea how they determined the outcome of our running attack.

You are right though. Once the game starts, especially in a game like this, it's anyone's game. Case in point, TCU vs. Wisconsin. Prior to the game, you could not have convinced me that TCU would win the game.

The Buckeyes 2006 season is the reason why I find statements like this to be completely irrelevant. Beat two #2's and lost to the third.

Excellent point here. Turns out both those #2 teams were overrated significantly. Not that after the shit storm that was New Years Day would suggest the same can be said of Arkansas' competition this year. Yet, rankings have always been, and will always be subjective.

To wit

unranked Iowa beats #12 Mizzzou this week.

16th ranked Bama de-pantsed #9 MSU.

Does anyone here believe that Utah actually deserves to be ranked? They were #19 going into the bowl against Boise St.

There are more examples, but the fact of the matter is that rankings mean shit. The beatings on 1/1/11 do, but this argument was in circulation well before and frankly, most of the matchups weren't that good to begin with for the B10 anyway.

Speaking of an NC game...tOSU is playing Miami on the Big 10 network right now. I'm really nervous because Cie Grant got hurt and they put in a freshman (gasp) named Hawk. I don't know much about this kid, but Keith Jackson sure thinks it's a bad thing.

I am feeling very confident about a Buckeye victory tonight. Controversy surrounding a Tressel bowl team has not hurt OSU in the past and I see that trend continuing tonight. I gave a prediction a few days ago of a 10 point Buckeye win that includes a late pick 6 and see no reason to change that prediction.
