Game Thread Sugar Bowl: tOSU vs Arkansas, Tue, Jan 4th, 8:30 ET ESPN

I still think this game will be close, within 7 points to the winner. I realize OSU has more experience in BCS bowls, but the Hogs have more experience this season with ranked teams. We let a win slip away against #1 Bammy because our running game had yet to emerge. We lost a heartbreaker to Auburn after Mallett left the game with an injury and a couple of calls that could have gone either way. It was easily the worst game of the year for our defense.

Since the Auburn game, Knile Davis has put up nearly 900 yards on the ground and given the offense the ability to control the clock as we did against LSU in the regular season finale. Mallett just needs to keep his head in the game and not try to force too many passes.

If Arkansas gets out to a fast start, it won't be a good night for the Buckeyes. Our offense can put up points pretty quickly and make it difficult to most teams to catch up.

If the game stays close into the fourth quarter, I think it favors Ohio St. Our guys are more comfortable playing with a lead and tend to make more mistakes when trying to play from behind(see Auburn game).

My prediction: Arkansas by 10.

Regardless of the outcome, I hope we have an injury free game that leaves no doubt about who the better team is(meaning no controversy involving the official's calls). And no, I couldn't care less about conference affiliation or who's conference is better. The SEC could go 1-9 for all I care as long as the Hogs win.

I'm a walking contradiction, what can I say?

My head says it will be close, but my heart wants a cushion in the margin of victory.

Haha me to but the other way....im laughing because sometimes its nice when there is 4 minutes on the clock and the game is in hand and you can relax drink a beer....rather than pacing back and forth freaking out at every change in momentum...

I'm an Arkansas fan. I've had to live through the 7 OT games with Kentucky and Ole Miss and the 6 OT game with Tennessee. We lived through the 90's which were largely an effort of futility. Our bowl record absolutely sucks(12-22-3) and we haven't won the Sugar Bowl in 42 years.

Why did I say all of that? Basically because I'm used to pacing back and forth throughout any big game that the Hogs play in. I don't feel comfortable with a win until about 15 minutes after the game is officially over, just in case the refs decide to put an extra second or two back on the clock.

I do feel better about not having an SEC officiating crew call this game though.

Yeah, you guys had some close wins down the stretch that year that had to be nerve racking. Believe me, a 1 OT win is calm compared to doing it 6 more times. We were watching the Ole Miss 7 OT game in a bar in West Little Rock and after we won, a Mississippi State fan who happened to on a business trip bought everone at the bar a shot.

Correction: 2OT National Championship game. That equates to at least one of those 6+ OT games.

Also, the rest of that season could've won an Oscar for best screenplay.

The drama and pure fantasy involved in that season could be written as a movie had it not been tOSU.

Trust us, you can call us TNT because we know drama.

The Buckeyes 2006 season is the reason why I find statements like this to be completely irrelevant. Beat two #2's and lost to the third.

I disagree that it's completely irrelevant. Playing a difficult schedule can both help and hurt teams. It helps as the team is accustomed to playing difficult games in difficult situations. They are also not going to get intimidated by playing great teams at the end of the season, such as their bowl game. This won't be a problem for either Arkansas or Ohio St.

On the flip side, playing a difficult schedule can also lead to a team suffering more injuries and being more physically and emotionally drained by the end of the season. Again, I don't see either of these teams suffering from this after the long layoff, but these are legitimate factors to consider.
