Sugar Bowl - LSU 41, Notre Dame 14 (Final, Jan. 3, 2007)

from CFN:

Notre Dame on its own 11
- Does Notre Dame have a first down in the second half?
- Evan Sharpley is in for Quinn.
- 15-35, 148 yards, two touchdown, two interceptions for Quinn. Sell that to the Raider Nation.
- That was a clinic in the second half.
- Can we fly in Wisconsin to see if it can do any better?

All I know is that anyone that doesn't like Fox doing these games isn't paying attention.

We just had an entire 4 hours of ND on the tube and I didn't hear one reference to Zibby and boxing. The standard ND ass beating is almost secondary to that.

Give Charlie a month to prepare and he can be on the short end of some of the worst Bowl beatings in history.

Somebody started a "Coach of the Year: Weis or Ferentz" thread over there...hahahaha

:slappy:

And both got the shit beat out of them by LSU in a BCS bowl game as they led their teams to "unmatched glory" :slappy:

EDIT: Sorry, that was USC that killed Iowa in 2002.

By the way internet genius...I'm still waiting for you to inform me from your vast wealth of superior knowledge a) what games of any consequence at all (service academies don't count, nor does Stanford) has Charlie Weis won at ND, and b) in what games against teams of consequence has his defense played well in (like tonight's 41, for example).

All wins under Charlie the Hut (opponent's final record in paranthesis):

2005
Pittsburgh (5-6, including a win against a I-AA team)
Michigan (7-5)
Washington (2-9)
Purdue (5-6)
BYU (6-6)
Tennessee (5-6)
Navy (8-4)
Syracuse (1-10)
Stanford (5-6)

2006
Georgia Tech (9-4)
Penn St. (9-4)
Michigan St. (4-8)
Purdue (8-5)
Stanford (1-11)
UCLA (7-6)
Navy (9-4)
North Carolina (3-9)
Air Force (4-8)
Army (3-9)

In fairness, Notre Dame did play seven bowl teams--beating five of them--this year...however, the manner in which they got destroyed at home by Michigan, pounded at USC, and blasted by LSU, took most of the luster off of that fact. I don't think they were as overrated this year as they were last year (during which they had wins over a grand total of two teams with winning records).

I think Mr. Quinn just stumbled into a Leinart like tumble in next years draft. Maybe further, because leinart still performed well against competition. If this doesn't scare off a number of NFL scouts, I don't know what would.

Russell on the other hand may have made himself one hell of a chunk of change today.
