Stupid two point conversions (SimpLLLLLe Jim loves 'em, and so does James Franklin)

Whoever put together "the card" is an idiot.

I disagree. Whoever puts faith in the card is an idiot. Whoever needs a card to tell him what to do is an idiot. <<<Insert Bret Bielema Picture****>

If you make it to head football coach at any level, you ought to be smart enough to decide when to go for 2.

Go for 2 if you want to surprise the other team. Do that silly play where you line up in a spread formation and come together to kick if you want. If the defense doesn't defend your formation, get the 2 points. Seems gimmicky to me, but if the other team doesn't line up to stop it, that's their problem.

Go for 2 late in the game, if it's to tie the score, or make it a full one-score lead or whatever.

But whatever. I think these video game coaches who go for 2 a lot end up getting bit in the end.

Arizona Cardinals-Pittsburgh Steelers.

Baffling.

Idiotic.

Down 18, got a TD. It's currently 12. 1 point makes it a TD and FG game. 2 Pointer-made, makes it a TD and FG game.

2-Pointer missed, makes it a 2 TD game.

You keep the game simple. Instead, you made it harder.

gotta go for 2 sometime if you wanted to make it a TD, FG sometime..7+3=10 not 11

Nope.

You don't go for two until you have to go for two, because it fails more than 50% of the time. Kicking the XP makes it 32-21, as in a FG + TD game. Missing the 2 pointer takes the FG option off the board.

Agreed. Save the 2-point attempt until you need to use it in this case. It keeps more pressure on the defense. You're right that it probably didn't make a difference. But one could argue that everything makes a difference.

The one time I disagree with waiting until you need it is when a team is down 22 and scores. They either need 1 two-pointer and 2 kicks, or 2 two-pointers in three attempts. Going for two right away means that if you get it you're caught up, but that if you miss it, you can still get it by making the next two.

So my card says go for 2 when you're down 16 after a TD. :wink2:

I knew you had a "1-for-1 or 2-for-3" situation, so I put the "in this case" condition in my post. I believe that the subject case was not the right time to go for 2.

Fair enough, but you also quoted a post that said "You don't go for two until you have to go for two" and said "Agreed." :wink2:

I should have quoted Jake's post, since it was his blanket statement that my example was opposing; but yours was more recent.

yeah, that Dolphins 2 point try was baffling......I'm pretty sure they are TRYING to lose every game at this point.

This is honestly the only defense of Tony Sparano still having a job. He's trying to lose and he's doing it well.

Because if he has a job for any other reason, his boss should be fired as well.
