VT just bailed out GT with their own failed conversion attempt in the third quarter. Gotta love the ACC.

I would love to replace "the card" - obviously created by someone who did not consider what happens when you fail to convert (which is more than 50% of the time) - with these simple guidelines:
First half - are you fucking insane? Kick the damn ball.
Third quarter - only consider it during the last 5 minutes of the quarter if the score is low, conditions are going to make it difficult to score again, and you have a chance to tie the game. These would be rare circumstances. Otherwise, kick it.
Fourth quarter - only when you have to do it. If you're down 15 and score a TD, kick it! Going for two too soon - and failing - makes it a 9 point game. Keep it a one score game as long as possible because shit happens.
By the way, if you're leading, only consider it the last 5 minutes of the game if your lead is 1 point or 5 points. Otherwise, don't be stupid. Kick it!

Not so well for Kansas who went for 2 in the first overtime against Baylor and failed, losing 31-30. 
(I didn't think it was a particularly poor decision, seeing as Baylor had scored 21 unanswered points in the last 12 minutes of the 4th quarter and scored easily on their possession in OT.)

Yeah I think when your a big under dog and you can win the game on a two-point conversion you should go for it. It didn't work for Kansas but it worked for TCU.

That was ballsy. The more I see of Gary Patterson, the more I like him. Even if it failed, in that situation, on the road vs. the #5 team in the country...[censored] it, go for the gusto.
