Anyone else have this banner ad at the top of this thread?

You couldn't be more wrong. Did you just assume that hardcore football fans are idiots or something? You obviously did no research before this post. You're coming off like a bitter fanboy, fyi.[/quote]

Agree to disagee I guess. I won't resort to the name calling. Sorry for my lack of research. I've been watching football for over 30 years. Don't know any fans that can recite these football records without looking them up. Estimate...sure - but not much more than that.

I'd suggest reading the article in Sports Illustrated in March this year. There are some players in the world that are naturally gifted.

Albert Pujols is the Best Player in Baseball, and he - 03.16.09 - SI Vault

That's all I have to say.

I'mnot saying Albert definitively uses roids'. But can you be shocked by anyone who tests positive??

I didn't read the article all the way through, but he provides a pretty sincere explanation as to why he wouldn't use roids' and his relationship with God.

Like I said, I didn't read all the way through, but did they talk about his weird forehead and temples? He has a Placido Palanco head, which makes me "think" roids whenever I see that.

Maybe powerlifter can jump in on that, because I have heard roids can cause the head to change shape in weird ways.

By the way, the MLB channel did a World Series recap of the Padres vs. Yankees from the mid-late 90's I think, and it was funny to see all the guys out there just ripped through there jerseys. It's so frickin obvious in retrospect when you look at old tape.

I laugh as I think about Albert Belle now pointing to his muscles and yelling across the diamond at the Boston Red Sox "I'm just f*ucking strong" as they requested his bat be observed for cork. Yes Albert, you were very strong, with a crazy temper, and a shortened career due to injuries. Interesting.

Yeah, I know it's speculation. No, I'm not surprised anymore.

The thread title says it all. With all these developments, I'm not surprised when another player tests positive for something, there is alot of shit out there. I just take a more innocent until proven guilty viewpoint.

Have performance enhancers been rampant in professional sports, namely MLB? Yes, of course. Does everyone take them? Maybe, but I doubt EVERYONE takes them. I still have faith that there were maybe some clean players, I'm just not a jump off the cliff type. I tend not to speculate whether Kenny Lofton, or Rickey Henderson had help because some of their numbers ballooned from their averages select years. I'm not the personal trainer, I'm not in the clubhouse, I'm not in the backroom sticking needles, or watching somebody stick needles, so I can't say whether someone definitively did or did not do whatever. That's how I feel. In Manny's case the dude hadn't failed a test for like 15 years, and you can take it two ways. He was either smart, or resourceful, enough to not get caught; or he actually needed bedroom performance enhancers. I wasn't there in either case, so I don't really know. Did he test positive? Yeah, he did. I'm not denying that. But his past has some weight to me as well. And I know that there are masking agents, and the chemistry is advanced and the testing was/is behind, but I'll just wait until another positive test comes out for another player. Do I feel that Kenny and Rickey were clean? Yeah, why not. Would it surprise me if positive tests surface? Not really. My view tends to fall in line with our legal, and my, judgement system, so if anyone feels this is a "dumb" or "stupid" way of thinking; I don't care. I'm not naive enough to ignore all the possibilities, I'm just not one to quickly jump to conclusions.

The rest of the article is entertaining. I don't recall them writing about his temples specifically, but they wrote about how he comes through and hits home runs for kids that request it. And how he's hit mulitiple HRs on different requests. Just well written.

Acromegaly-Acromegaly is a disorder in which the abnormal release of a particular chemical from the pituitary gland in the brain causes increased growth in bone and soft tissue, as well as a variety of other disturbances throughout the body. This chemical released from the pituitary gland is called growth hormone (GH). The body's ability to process and use nutrients like fats and sugars is also altered. In children whose bony growth plates have not closed, the chemical changes of acromegaly result in exceptional growth of long bones. This variant is called gigantism, with the additional bone growth causing unusual height. When the abnormality occurs after bone growth stops, the disorder is called acromegaly.

From what i've seen in real world experience(others) low dose GH users aren't going to experience huge side effects(obviously an opinion, but all cases vary) Some of the guys I have met before in real life who were more obvious heavy users (Pro bodybuilders,Jay Cutler(no qb),Ronnie Coleman) had weird looking general appearances. Oily skin(not posing oil, just a weird glare),extreme facial change (obvious throughout careers). There is evidence that suggests, that the heart, lungs will also grow while administering GH. Although those guys generally appear to be healthy,I believe they are more of a walking test experiement for the drug itself. Time will tell.

As far as actual anabolic steroids and facial change...not so much. Maybe a fat bloated face from water retanation.Excess amounts of water stored in muscles, and general weight gain can make humans, pumpkinheadish. It would probably vary on the amount of weight gain, and what percentage exactly was muscle opposed to fat.
