Famous last words:

IronBuckI: "I am very excited to see Revenge of The Sith"

strohs: "Wow, that movie is going to be bad-assed."

DCBuckFan: "but wow... looks 100x better than episode 1 or 2.... "

LoKy: "I'll take his review above all other and he said that it is far better than the Ep1 and Ep2."

Luca: "Most of us were also between 5-15 years old when the first three movies came out, so our perspectives were limited and naive."

Natalie Portman (aka Padme Amidala) in Revenge of the Sith: 'HOLD me, Anakin! "Hold me like you did by the lake on Naboo!"

That's an actual line from the movie. Whoa. Anyone want to take back their previous comments??

To Luca: lines like that sucked when I was 5, 7, 10, 11, 12, 15, and all the way up to 30. My perspective hasn't changed. Lucas just sucks.
*waves hand*

Sloopy, Revenge of the Sith is the best Star Wars Movie ever. And you will send FKAGoBucks877 a check for ONE MILLION DOLLARS.

*now, let's see if there is really anything to this whole "Force" idea...*

I saw it last night at 12:30am. I didn't particularly like it, but I can see people who aren't fiercely loyal to the 1st trilogy liking it.

I think its probably on par with The Phantom Menace as being the best of the Prequels.

My Grade: C -.

I think Lucas butchered the two most critical scenes in the movie (Vader's turn & the end). The acting/directing/editing/dialogue really wasn't very good in those scenes.

I will say this: Kashykk (the Planet of Wookies) is awesome!!

I saw it last night as well. I thought it was pretty cool, but it can't touch any of the first 3. I honestly thought it was kinda weird that Anakin flipped just because of a couple of dreams. If Padme had already been sick, it would have made his conversion/lust for power a lot more convincing. His sudden switch was a bit much-he did turn in Palpatine. Also, I thought the outer space scenes were just too "busy" w/ CGI ships-too much going on. Finally, I think Lucas should have had more scnery/technology continuity between the first 3 films, and the most recent 3. If episodes 1-3 took place 20-40 years before Star Wars, the technology, etc. should have been the same/older-not way fancier. I realize that Lucas couldn't resist taking advantage of the the CGI whizbangs available now, but I think he let his computer/animation geek sweettooth take over for continuity and solid filmmaking. I liked how they used the old ship hallway from the original Star Wars-too bad it looked like nothing else in the movie.
Palpatine was well played by McDiarmid, and I also thought Yoda was the shit in this one. Overall, it was probably about what I expected-any reviewer who tries to place it above any of the original 3 is stretching things too far,IMO.

So you're telling me I'm not getting a million dollars? Damn it! I haven't see the movie yet...I will, but I hate crowded theaters, so I'll give it at least a couple of weeks before I go. I'm not as avid a fan as you, but the originals are a shitload better than the first couple of prequels. If Amidala and Anakin have to do any serious acting in this one, it has to suck, just like Episode II. I'll pass judgment eventually...

Oh, and stxbuck, thanks for ruining the movie for me. I guess I don't have to see it now, since you told me all about it...ok, actually I stopped reading your post after you started giving details about the movie...if you're gonna do that, post a "SPOILER ALERT" or something.

if you go into the movie with the expectation that it will be better than episodes 1&2, then you will be pleased. anything above that, not so much.

simon fraser was at the sawmill theater last night to see it. he looked in pretty good shape. he sat somewhere behind us so i didnt see him often. when he was leaving it looked like he was with either mangold or hawk, all i could see was the hair from behind. the kid looked to be about 6'3''-6'4'' so i assumed it was mangold. his legs look like tree trunks. it looks like he hit the squat rack this offseason.

for those combine reports listing fraser with 15%+ body fat, i sure didnt see it. he looked in pretty good shape.

Well I guess I don't have to see it now since everyone likes posting everything that happened. Any of you have any older movies that your planning on watching sometime so I can ruin it for you? I thought I wouldn't have to worry about spoilers until tomorrow, but I guess not. That's what I get for not being a supernerd that stays up to see a movie at midnight the night before it opens. :roll1:

stx: "If episodes 1-3 took place 20-40 years before Star Wars, the technology, etc. should have been the same/older-not way fancier."

Actually, this was exactly the effect that Lucas was looking for. After the tyrannical rule of the Emperor for 20 years, technology & prosperity suffered, everything looked weathered, etc. In the Old Rebublic, everything is shiny & new. You can even see this decline as the Prequels move from the 1st to the 3rd.

"Palpatine was well played by McDiarmid, and I also thought Yoda was the shit in this one."

Yoda & Obi-Wan do an absolute JOB on everybody they fight ('cept maybe for Darth Sidious). I won't spill the beans, but Yoda's actions during "Order 66" were awesome. I think people will like this a lot.

Ian McDiarmid was phenomenal as Palpatine. He really stole the show. However, his make-up job was so bad at times that it was difficult to take him seriously.

FKA: "so I'll give it at least a couple of weeks before I go"

Don't wait that long. The response in the theater I was in was very poor. They were laughing at scenes that weren't intended to be funny. It might not be around for a couple of weeks, seriously.

"If Amidala and Anakin have to do any serious acting in this one, it has to suck, just like Episode II."

There's some of that in this movie, but its sprinkled in. Not like Attack of the Clones where you're brow-beaten by it, but its definately out of place.

That sucks. It really sucks. If it's anything even approaching Attack of the Clones, I'm going to throw darts at the movie screen.

My friend, believe it or not, the scene (hint: that EVERYBODY wanted to see, basically the reason you pay $9 to see this) was butchered so badly, that you won't leave the theater thinking about Padme & Anakin. You'll be solely focused on what could have been & was done in the scene I'm referring to.

Gunray gets cut in half by Anakin/Darth. Great scene in the movie.

:slappy: Great stuff. The Japanese accent on that guy was great. If only Jar Jar had been cut in half as well....

Jar-Jar is shown twice in the movie with no speaking parts. Unfortunately, Anakin/Darth doesn't do a job on him as well.

Tibbs, where's my boy DiscoStoo/DaveShula today? He's not gonna post on this? Did he see the movie yet?

He hasn't seen it yet. I don't think this board makes it past his work's filters. The Bengal Board sometimes does.
