Starcraft II - Wings Of Liberty

Yea, i'm not fond about the trilogy either. Their original plan was 1 game, but figured they couldn't tell the whole story in one game with a cut back of missions. Last time i heard them talk about the expansions, they said something about the price being somewhere between $20-25.

But yes, we need to figure out some designated multi-player days. I've been playing with a few other friends, but this is the first time they have ever played the Starcraft games. We would do 2v2 against easy computers...and they would either get wiped out or not build any units at all. So i basically was doing 1v2, which is damn simple against easy and medium computers. Still would like to get some serious 2v2 action together and try and make it into one of the top leagues.

I'm up for whatever night works best for you....i'm pretty much free whenever

I got one of the bad streaks going today. For my 2v2 placement matches, i went 1-4 because of my partners. Here is a breakdown of what i went through.

Game 1:
Partner was Zerg and he ling rushed one of the other guys and did some heavy damage. I went down to help finish him off with zealots/stalkers, but the other guy massed stalkers and killed us. After that, my partner stopped making units and had about 50+ drones and that was it. Of course we lost.

Game 2:
Partner was Terran, and his whole strategy was that he built 4 bunkers at the front of his base, filled them, then sat there the rest of the game. The other team attacked him and killed all the units, went to counter attack by myself because he didn't want to come...i got killed and then they came and countered me and won.

Game 3:
The other team tried to cannon rush my teammate who was Terran. He just lifted off and went somewhere else. This whole time i teched to void rays, went to there bases and killed them. This was my one win.

Game 4:
By this point i was so pissed i don't even remember what happened, haha

Game 5:
Partner was Terran, and everyone seemed to just sit back tech up and build an army. The protoss on the other team surrounded his whole base in about 2 levels of cannons (except the back). So we went and killed his partner that was zerg. I went around back to try and kill the protoss with void rays but he had a bunch of carriers already which killed me. I built up my army again, and my teammate brought along some battlecruisers. We went back in and got raped by a ton of carriers. We had the guy pinned in one spot though. For the rest of the game my partner would buy 1-3 vikings and go attack the 6+ carriers. Meanwhile i was building an air army to try and take him out. When i went to take down his base he went after mine. I killed his base except for all the cannons. He had killed my base and went to my partners, which still had nothing. So we lost...once again.

We need to find some time and get on at the same time and do some 2v2 action. If the majority of people are this bad, we could easily get in the Gold league or higher.

Well, I'm not doing terrible in 1's. 8-4 right now. Played 4. Won the 1st, lost the 2nd won the next two. That lost pissed me off though. Saw the guy going triple gateway and straight zealots. So I decided to hit Rays ASAFP. I threw a few photons in front of my base real fast, as there warping in he shows up with about 10 zealots. I'm 5 minerals short of a void ray as my last probe dies. Had that void ray been out I would have won... he had no air defense and all I had to do was destroy the pylon's in his base.

Pretty pissed about that. I hate losing more than anything. Most of my losses have been on bullshit like that too.

Zealot rushes as a Zerg irritate me beyond belief. I see it all the time in 2v2/3v3/4v4. I usually drop a few spine crawlers and rush to roaches when I scout it, but it doesn't help that I'm 1v2, or 1v3 etc. . Sometimes I can stop the first wave, but usually my random partners don't care and are just glad they aren't targeting them.

I've been fooling around with the idea of going toss or terran full-time. Terran is very well polished and Toss are very easy to learn. Also, that 4-gate is just damn sexy.

I haven't even touched 1v1 yet. I really want to get my Zerg builds down or if I decide to switch that race down.

PM me if you want my e-mail address as well, would be good to play with some of you.

I still do not like how mass Marines is a viable way to go, even for end game battles. Anyone can do that, and sadly enough it works pretty effectively.

As for being rushed...it happens to me all the time. I don't see cannon rushes too much anymore, but what i have noticed recently is the other team coming and building barracks and/or gateways right outside your base. It's a pain in the ass, because they usually build some cannons or something with it and totally cut off your teammate. And if you have a horrible teammate it's game over instantly.

We should all play some 3v3 some time...we are obviously smarter and better then, what it seems like, the majority of players out there.

Best way to stop a zealot rush is to tech around it... Defense straight to air. If they have nothing its over - generally speaking most of the time your opponent wont. Just to be on the safe side sneak a drone out of your base and make sure you can build a structure elsewhere if it ever comes down to you killing his troops before your base.

Terran Mech is nasty, that simple. With Protoss people still don't understand quality of units and apparently I'm still the only person online who thinks DT's are very effective placed in the right situations. I'd say terran is easier due to their ability to play quick defense that lasts.

The idea of beating Terran is to not have any reserve on losing units. I've found it best effective as Protoss. Every Terran player seals in their base. In doing so wasting time and minerals. The idea is to have a couple marines be able to defend a choke point - which to an extent works unless the opposition can afford to lose a few units. Which is what I do. I get 8 zealots, send 4 to the first supply depot or bunker then let the rest draw fire.
By then you'll only have a few marines out and when that depot is down the flood gates open. You just have to be willing to take some losses and keep pumping out zealots.

by the by, its 830 EST.... I'll be on in like half hour.

Out of 200 only 37 are Zerg =/.

Fine job pointing that out btw - Zerg use to be half of the top rankings.

I'm finding some better Terran players as I go which I'm not to fond of. One guy I faced (beat him by some miracle) did a fantastic job sealing himself in and went right to tech. Had battlecruiser's out faster then any player I've personally seen.... fortunately the mass amount of stalkers negated that.

Yea, i have seen some very good and very fast Terran players recently. Protoss i think are still tops in terms or raw power and number of people playing the race...but Terran is becoming very good. I play as Protoss, and i know when i'm against a Terran they basically have a counter against me in teir 1 units. I rush zealots...they can basically just mass marines or mauraders. If i go mass stalkers, they just alot of marauders. I feel like i can never rush against a Terran anymore, because they will just counter very easily.

I've been thinking about going Terran for awhile, but haven't played them enough to be totally confident.
