Star Wars (May the Force be with you)

Hasn't hurt Marvel.
The one thing marvel has going for it is a man at the top overseeing it all has a vision and each film while it contains different characters must fit within the overall vision of what is coming. Like it or not the lack of Lucas as the ruler of the Star War verse is a bad thing. It is rudderless and its evident by the Last Jedi (liked it) and Solo. Last Jedi doesn’t fit the “mold” of a Star Wars movie. It wasn’t a movie about a buncha hero’s who’s names are never mentioned and never seen again (Rogue One). I haven’t seen Solo but I will go because I want to see it.

It honestly feels like Disney was like “screw it no matter what we put out we’ll make money” maybe now they will realize they cant and maybe put someone overtop to give an over arching 10 year vision like what happened at marvel.

That’s true, but the Marvel Universe is much larger.
Well Disney killed a lot of canon for Star Wars ... personally. I could sit through about 10 3 hour movies based on Knights of the Old Republic I and II (the video games). Those were the most compelling stores Starwars had a in a long time... and they were in no way tied to the original movies.

I've never been convinced that Lucas can pull off competence without Ford's presence, and this version of Harrison is a shell of himself.

Rey is the first lead jedi since Ep I thst isn't more infuriating than sand to Anakin

Personally, I think Disney is doing a good job. I even liked 'The Last Jedi', despite some cringe-inducing flaws. I thought 'The Force Awakens' and 'Rogue One' were top-notch. I don't know why, but I'm not overly excited for the 'Solo' movie...possibly because I just can't see anybody but Harrison Ford in the role. Definitely looking forward to the Boba Fett movie, though.

I thought the prequels were an abomination, though they did improve...slightly...with each installment. Lucas just doesn't have the chops to pull of a modern epic.

Disagree. I like my movies without pointless CGI creatures walking in front of other pointless CGI creatures who are walking in front of the camera.....pointlessly.

I get it Lucas was a bad choice to say “lead” but its the idea that you need someone at the top to tie relevant movies together... its not a coincidence that Kasden (sp?) wrote on Empire/Awakens/Rogue one... and those are considered top 4/5 by most people. Continuity and vision is what’s needed for these endless franchises and it feels like Star Wars is lacking that right now...

Oh for sure. I just don't think Lucas can pull it off. As NFBuck said.....those prequels were pretty meh, as compared to anything going on in Marvel.
