Star Wars (May the Force be with you)

Two words: "No ticket."

Also: Marcus Brody got lost in his own museum. Denholm Elliott was great.

BTW and slightly off topic. Took the kids to Disney World last week. Aside from being 3 k poorer, if you take your kids to Hollywood studios on Disney, make sure you show up before 9 am. If you planned on taking them to the JEDI training academy, it sells out before 10 am. The funny part is watching the parents that brought their 8 year old's from Europe not realizing the fact that the ride is sold out by then. I don't know for sure what the translation for the the phrase "[censored] you" is in 10 different languages, but now I have a pretty good idea.

The last time we got more Star Wars films it was. Of course with that done, the brand has already been tarnished and watered down. So more probably won't hurt.

The brand was tarnished & watered down when Ewok Adventures hit the air, or to be entirely honest we have to go back to:

Meh, a crappy tv movie about Ewoks that had nothing to do with the main characters of the trilogy doesn't really hurt anything. Of course that Christmas special included the main characters, yet Lucas was smart enough to try and bury that thing. Happy Life Day!

The mere existence of Ewoks in Return of the Jedi hurt things.

Splinter of the Minds Eye, Han Solo At Stars' End, Lando Calrissian and the Mindharp of Sharu, Droids (the cartoon)...low quality shovelware has always been part of the franchise.

and all of those things were crap most people ignored. None of them were major motion pictures.

I guess I'm just one of the few. I was watching Attack of the Clones earlier tonight. People treat it like Battlefield Earth. I don't see it.

Honestly, I've said this for many years. Well, since the prequels came out, anyway. I like the prequel trilogy. They aren't GREAT movies. But I like them. Now, compared to the original trilogy, they're crap. But compared to other crap, this crap is good crap.

Anyway, I think 7 is going to be more flash than substance. But I'll be there to watch it.

Episode I was not a great movie by any stretch.

but it takes a harder hit because people automatically try to compare it to episodes IV, V, and VI.

episode II was a decent flick, but it gets a boost in rep because it is compared mostly to episode I.

the prequel trilogy as a whole is neither terrible nor great.
especially if you can separate yourself from the original trilogy when grading them.

The biggest mistake of the prequels, other than Lucas sitting in the director's chair, was Episode I, in that the story goes back to a little 10 year old Darth Vader. Not only did this contradict everything in the first trilogy, it made the film too cartoonish because of the emphasis on the innocence of childhood youth rather than the angst of adolescent youth.

If Lucas had taken the last two movies and split them into three, had Anakin introduced into the galactic struggle as a teenager, and had the Clone Wars being fought throughout all three movies it would have been a much better story.

Of course, I still wish Return of the Jedi had followed its original plot line in which Luke overcomes Vader, but only by turning to dark side and replacing him as the Emperor's Sith apprentice; thus leaving the hope of the galaxy on the other Skywalker (who was not suppose to be Leia) who would then be sought after by Luke in Episodes VII-IX and would eventually bring about his redemption and combined they would defeat the Emperor. Since Return of the Jedi makes this plot impossible, I have no idea what outline Lucas has created to make future movies.
